What does Pink Elephant Make?

Sources close to the management indicate that Pink Elephant in the Hamptons makes quite a bundle of cash in the 12 short weeks it runs a year.

pink_elephant_cartoon2 What does Pink Elephant Make?

Revenue

Friday Night = $45,000

Saturday Night = $90,000

Weeks = 12

Total Revenue = 12 x ($45,000 + $90,000) = $1,620,000*

That is a pretty hefty take. Its unclear exactly what profits are, but most entertainment accountants would estimate their costs (alcohol, promotion, salaries, rent) to be roughly $600,000-750,000, making the profit well north of $500,000.

These numbers must make David Cabo and Shawn Kolodny pretty happy. We can only guess how much Dune is losing this summer…

*Not including Memorial Day and Labor Day Sunday

  1. The Truth - August 8th, 2007

Don’t believe this one bit. I’ve been going all and I often see unsold tabls. Not to mention I rarely see large format bottles of premium champagne coming out (which is usually what drives a bar ring up to 90k). At Dune, on the other hand, I consistently see methusulas and jerobaums coming out, along with dom p/cris at almost every table. There’s also no way Pink doubles their bar ring for Saturday nights.

  2. guestofaguest - August 8th, 2007

Well Friday’s are certainly slower than Saturdays…often the back sand area isn’t close to filled on a Friday. So it would make sense that their rev would be significantly higher.

We are trying to find out a little more information on the Pink Elephant label of vodka that they offer, and what the details are behind that…

  3. The Truth - August 9th, 2007

The Pink Elephant vodka bottles are simply the complimentary bottles they give to their promoters and big spenders as a favor. It tastes like shit and I’m pretty sure it’s just Level vodka (the typical comp bottle) repackaged into their own pretty little bottle.

  4. guestofaguest - August 9th, 2007

Agreed, it doesn’t taste very good…most likely repackaged poorly distilled vodka.

Email us if you want to chat more about this stuff, and things blog related.

  5. just doing the math - August 10th, 2007

Let’s do the math another way.
The place is tiny right…..how many bodies can it possibly hold?300? 350? 400? 500?
350 means each person drops about $125
    400 = $112
    and so on
    Now double that on saturday.
    Not very likely.

  6. In the know - August 10th, 2007

PE fridays are garbage, PE saturdays are ok at best. Dune only place to go in hamptons. Dont be stupid. Dune makes much more than PE, not even a question.

  7. insider - August 10th, 2007

That analysis is insipid. The revenue at any east end nightclub is hardly constant week to week. On a general basis, memorial day weekend is big, the next two or three weeks are quite slow, and then you get a big pop at the fourth of july weekend, with volumes rising consistently through the rest of the summer, more or less.

Speaking anecdotally, I’ve driven past the Capri every single Saturday this summer, and I didn’t start seeing large crowds outside until about two or three weekends ago. There is absolutely no way they were doing $90,000 on saturdays in june. Even $50k seems like a stretch.

  8. guestofaguest - August 10th, 2007

Insider, have you heard of smoothing? Obviously there are bumps here and there, bad weather, etc., but these numbers would be an average.

“Just doing the math”, interesting approach. PE actually has a fairly bigger occupancy. The inside is small, but the back sand area around the pool has a great deal of space, and holds the bulk of people (at least 500-750 go through door). 120+ dollars per person is not out of the question.

Take for example, a vodka tonic at Nello’s in Southampton goes for $18.

To put this in perspective, Marquee in the city does about 1800 people on a given night. Supposing 1/2 of those people got comped, and the rest paid cover $20, that is 20K at the door alone.

Now all of a sudden these numbers don’t look too crazy.

All this speculation may call for another post…

  9. hahahahaha - August 11th, 2007

These guys are pouring so much money down the drains with all of the promoters they need to fill the space. Plus has anyone even heard anything about PE this summer? Dune is where people are actually going and talking about.

  10. Anonymous - August 20th, 2007

number nine you are wrong, we have a share house and have gone to both a number of times. its more expensive and harder to get into/get bottles erc at pink elephant. i know for a fact they cleared 100k gross on fourth of july sat night, 5k of which came from us!
