Around 8:30 this morning, the AP began reporting about ANOTHER crane collapse on the East Side, at 91st and 1st Avenue. This follows the crane collapse that killed seven people two months ago on 52nd and 2nd Avenue, which now leaves less confidence than ever with New York's adherence to construction codes, particularly on the East Side. (And the collapses seem to be creeping closer and closer to my apartment, which also does not inspire confidence with all the luxury condo buildings going up in the area, which was bad enough in guaranteeing the near-constant skull-numbing noise of jackhammering.)

FROM hamptons.guestofaguest.com: I was lucky enough to enjoy laughs with friends and family on Nantucket. Nantucket Island, besides being its usual fabulous self, was celebrating the annual Figawi race, where sailors go from Hyannis to Nantucket. The race was named after a fictional tribe of nomads. It brings the Nantucket red, pinstripe wearing, Ralph modeling men out of the woodwork...More>>

Yep, it's that time of year again...time to get out your fighting tiger gear, and head across the river for some beers, lawn parties, and PJ's pancakes.

It's Princeton Reunion time this weekend.

And, while you're there, if you manage to stay sober enough to actually enjoy some of the sites this town has to offer, might I suggest checking out the following:

The start of summer is finally here, which means more skin, more parties, and a lot more SAMPLE sales! This season there are plenty of these wonderful little money savers around the "Big Apple" to keep us looking our best- with designer labels ranging anywhere from Adidas to Noir. So go ahead and take the chance to show off your new gorgeous Chanel purse that you paid only $200 for.

Here are a few of my top choices for this week:

[At the Junkyard Ho-Down in Brooklyn]

Go Here for more photos from this event by Antwan Duncan.

Americans everywhere are getting excited about summer. It's a time for them to truly cut loose and show their true American Pride. Some of the more popular mannerisms that Americans are known for come out during the summer months. Things like grilling out, eating watermelon, buying fireworks, sharing ice cream cones from a truck and... flashing people their American flag bikini's of course. We may be called tacky every now and then, but who can honestly say that they don't appreciate cheap beer from a red plastic cup served by girls in bikinis and cutoffs every now and then?

So last night I got to see the craze over the Sex and the City premiere firsthand— not by walking the red carpet like Scott and Naeem, and then going to the premiere, sadly, but talking to the people that came into New York from all over the North American continent for the premiere. With or without tickets. From Phoenix to New Orleans to Montreal, women drove and flew in droves dragging their boyfriends and husbands along for the ride. What it did was give me a lesson in PR.

BikesFROM hamptons.guestofaguest.com: You know summer"s here when you see a bunch of Peewee Herman-esque bikes out and about town. Or maybe its because gas is now pushing $5 dollars a gallon? Anyway, we"ll be trading in our 4 wheels for 2 as much as we can this summer, to save money, to save the environment, and to look super cool of course. More>>

Well we've passed through the gateway to summer. Memorial Day 2008 exists only in the memory of our minds, and history books. Its time to begin the summered out posts. I guess you may be expecting an Oper8tor's guide to the Summer, but honestly, I'm still trying to figure that out, and right now my only summer plans involve writing, lots and lots of shit talking and making as many new lady summertime friends as possible. What I can impart to the GOFG readers are things to expect from the summer. Sure the heat, the humidity and the fun are obvious, but it's the subtle quirks that make the summer everyone's favorite season.

FROM hamptons.guestofaguest.com: Its that time of the year when the song of the summer starts to play about 1000 times a day...Generally there is a bit of competition, with different radio stations and record companies vying for the coveted spot, but this year it seems the winner is already clear, making Leona Lewis make our ears bleed...

A snapshot of New York on May 23: It was 1PM on a 70 degree Friday, the one right before Memorial Day/party/relaxation/tanning sessions weekend, and on a race to beat time I was chasing up the stairs off the D train on 34 street, a.k.a a mob scene of tourists capturing our city in one snapshot, flyers attacking from all directions and frantic taxis driven by even more bitter drives who are determined to reach your requested destination even if that means endangering the lives of others. Loaded for a tip a la Hamptons, a shoulder bag, Crackberry in my right and iPod in my left, I elbow through the unwilling-to-move crowds, teeth grinding and spitting curses at those happy faced, I (heart) New York, visitors.

Yes, Memorial Day cometh. And like all things where ceremonies in the big cities (in this case New York) occur, there are little ceremonies occurring in the smaller respective Hicksvilles out there (the metaphorical one, not the one in Nassau county). Obligated to get as many photos as possible for a local Boy Scout troop, I went to one of these events. More»
