He's written 12 nationally acclaimed, often best-selling books. He's amassed a Peabody, an Emmy, and two Polks. And he does not use email. This week our worldly traveler spills the dirt on V1 seaplanes and Sam Talbot...

Dreams do come true...this week I hopped a V1 Jet seaplane to Montauk...with Sam Talbot. (You know, the Surf Lodge chef - who just happens to be very handsome in addition to his talents in the kitchen.) It's not everyday I get a morning phone call offering me a flight from NYC to Montauk, a trip that with zero traffic takes 3 hours! I am blessed with good friends and they always think of me, so off I went to 23rd street and the East River to meet my pilot and board my 40 minute flight to the Hamptons. I arrived to see a perfectly safe and moderately-sized seaplane drifting in the water.

Manhattan is now just a giant floating mood ring thanks to I Feel NYC. For those people who wish iPods were psychic radios that could provide the perfect soundtrack to your day, and who still hope that cute girl on the subway would just read your mind already and smile back, there's a new step towards city-wide clairvoyance.

Anyone that makes the effort to drive over two hours so they can party in places with such titles as "The Capri" deserve to get their moneys' worth. So maybe you're regretting those extra mocha glazed donuts with raspberry custard you scarfed down all spring. Or maybe you don't and would just like to move on with your life while fitting back into last summer's bikini. Either way, this Sunday is the perfect excuse to plan a weekend in the Hamptons while still tightening your belt.

Jackie Rogers has opened her new boutique in Southampton with an opening party this past Saturday which unveiled her new resort collection appropriately titled "Gin Lane". Debbie Bancroft and Countess Wiltraud Salm hosted the event on 50 Jobs Lane which supported the Animal Rescue Funds of the Hamptons.

Tinsley Mortimer has landed herself a cameo on Gossip Girl. They are currently out east filming for the fall and were recently shooting a scene with all the cast members dressed in white. Were they perhaps going to Diddy's annual white party? Hopefully we'll be able to score more of the scoop this afternoon at the Golf Tournament in West Hampton where the cast members are supposedly going to.
