The Wei Does Seattle’s Capitol Hill’s Block Party
“Wow what a crowd!…how do we get a beer around here.”-Stephanie Wei
I’m currently in Seattle, Washington (more specifically, Bellevue, which is right outside the city) visiting my parents. I grew up and lived in Bellevue until I fled east to Yale for college and subsequently moved to NYC upon graduating. Basically, I haven’t been around much for the past seven years.
I’d almost forgotten how great Seattle is in the months of July and August. However, I do always argue that there’s nowhere else better to be in the continental U.S. during July and August than Seattle. I stand by that statement, particularly after this current trip. I also believe that Seattle may be the country’s best kept secret…but I digress.

Most Exciting News Of The Week: Dreamland Roller Rink Is Back!
It’s a slow news day. If I have to hear another person bring up that weird Montauk Monster this week I may lose it. Leave the guy alone already! It’s just not something I need to be staring at each morning over breakfast. (Though you can go here to vote on what you think it is). Alas it’s time for some real news! And this IS exciting. Lola Staar’s Dreamland Roller Rink is re-opening. Maybe this is a sign that the new redevelopment plan for Coney Island is actually working. We are just excited we have a place to throw our roller-skating birthday parties at…after The Roxy sadly left us hanging.

Meet Alex Berardi
Meet Alex Berardi. This 22-year-old New York native has joined forces with his Browning high school classmate, Christopher M. Kulukundis, to jumpstart fashion house Alexander Berard-New York. The designer describes the company as “Upper East Side’s homegrown couturiers, with its 10th custom-made creation rolling off the production line at the end of next week”.
While the label does “enjoy working one on one with private clients” it is by no means limited to them. The design team recently formed a partnership with Prina Design House, the force that has worked with such brands as Tory Burch, Threeasfour, and Proenza Schouler. Mr. Berardi has spent this summer working on his debut ready to wear line, which is set to hit luxury retailers next spring.

Getting To The Bottom Of The Izzy Gold Mystery
UPDATE: Izzy Gold is really Chris Young and he’s been up to some big things these days. We have been chronicling the story of Izzy Gold Records for quite some time now, and we are impressed with the message Izzy and is trying to get across to us. Along with his business partner Brad Leinhardt, Izzy Gold Records has been working to record music for hospitalized children with cancer from the Ronald Mcdonald House. From making it Rain $10,000.00 in times square to rocking out on their halloween day parade float with the Blue Oyster Cult and Andy Hilfiger singing “Dont Fear The Reaper” these guys have certainly been hustling. We hear that Izzy Gold Records is now producing and managing some of our favorite DJ’s in town and we heard some rumors that a documentary is now in the works slated to air on one of our favorite music tv channels. We are excited to see what Izzy, Brad, and Liam Mcmullan the label’s creative director, have up their sleeves next. Stay tuned… More »

Let’s Play The Fame Game…Micah Jesse Vs. Kristian Laliberte
Today’s Fame Game Matchup is between two of our cities well known socialistos: Micah Jesse vs. Kristian Laliberte. Sure, they cater to very different crowds, but they are bound to run into each other now and then….Unsurprisingly, Micah has a bit more work to do if he’s ever going to catch up to Kristian who has held as high as a #2 ranking! Though he’s only 22, kid’s got a lot of time to rise up!

More MetroCard Woes
Why, WHY do this city’s MetroCard machines continue to break down? Particularly on days that my unlimited monthly pass expires and I have to walk 10 minutes to the nearest station, where the machine is also, serendipitously, non-functional–and then walk back to my original station? I always thought this kind of thing only happened to me because I’m forever cursed with bad transit luck- More »

Daily Style Phile: Amanda Shine Shines
She may have an ultra hip brother, but Ford model Amanda Shine shines on her own. Whether blond, brunette, dressed up or down; every time I see Amanda she is radiating! Amanda is a fitting example of how clothes are always secondary to confidence and beauty….she could really wear a potato sack and look great, our modern Aphrodite.

Izzy Gold Make$ It Rain In Times Square
Izzy Gold apparently created a lot of buzz in Times Square lately. Confused? So were we. Go HERE to get the details on the shenanigans that is Izzy Gold Records.
All I need to know is that there was $10,000 in cold hard cash thrown out in Times Square and I wasn’t warned beforehand! Maybe it’s because we got the whole story wrong?
