Pink Elephant may have gone bankrupt down in Chelsea, but it was celebration as usual out east at Capri. Did you ever wonder who the confetti-god was that is responsible for the thousands of pink slips and glitter that magically start appearing as you are dancing to Jay-Z at Pink Elephant? Thankfully, we have the photo evidence of the source. Mystery solved. The explanations for the behavior that happens underneath said confetti...I'm not sure that is ever going to be solved.

Even Moby loves Montauk's new hotspot, Surf Lodge. I was so happy to read this article on chef Sam Talbot in the New York Times last Friday. Sam, and the entire Surf Lodge team, deserve all of the respect in the world. As far as the locals and others that claim the place is ruining the vibe of Montauk, I say be happy. Where else in town can you go see Moby, The English Beat, and Bebel Gilberto all in one weekend FOR FREE?!?!
The Bud Club has been quite the party spot in Beijing these games. Open every other night, there is copious amounts of free beer (Budweiser only of course), spacious dance floors, and athletes wall-to-wall. WIth sporting events over this evening in China, this place is guaranteed to be live tonight! And the best part is all spectators and athletes alike are welcome to come together and celebrate. So head on over if you are in Beijing tonight, Ni Hao, Bihvhar!

The crowd was impeccable on Saturday and I got a chance to catch up with Nascar’s Tim George Jr, trade fashion tips with Katrina Peebles, and muse over weekend plans with Social Life’s Devorah Rose. Then there was Teddy John, Brianna Swanson, Becca Marcus, Emily Brill, Ariel Moses, Stephanie Wei, Adriel Reboh, Clint Spaulding, Tamie Peters Thomas, Rich Thomas and on and on and on…I walked by David Lauren and Lauren Bush and wished they’d call me over to say hi (they would actually have to know me to do that); all while managing to keep a safe distance from Michael Lohan – this year’s unofficial Polo Mascot (as deemed by me).

Today, our friend DBTH did a cute little fluff post on the Ram's Head Inn titled "The Next Surf Lodge?" Bravo, Scott for stepping outside your island, and props for picking the place that is in the running for the best of the bunch out East. However, I'm not sure why you should be the one posting on this piece of old news. You see, I have CONSISTENTLY invited DBTH out East with me this summer, and, he has sadly refused. Opting instead to stay in his LES dungeon counting his baseball cards and hitting up Antik. Well, this weekend, while DBTH was in Atlantic City balled up in a hotel, I was actually ON Ram Island, enjoying the sunrise. See comparison below:
Go HERE to see more photos from my Shelter Island Weekend.
I may be shilling for Surf Lodge all summer long, but at least I've BEEN there when I post about the place. There's still time! Help me save DBTH's summer before it's too late!

Hampton Style has an excellent article about the house of long-time Hamptons character Truman Capote (whose Breakfast at Tiffany's inspired our sister site's original nom de blog). Like so many of us who spend time out East, he loved his time there, because it was
"... a retreat... it was not Manhattan. ... it was so much quieter. You could hear the ocean..."
Since those days, the Hamptons has become...well not so quiet. What would Truman think of the Hamptons today?

Sunset Beach, that little piece of paradise off of the shores of Shelter Island is the perfect place to throw your summer Birthday Bash. Andre Balazs's may be in charge of this hot spot, but even so, once there you feel like you are far away from the normal Hampton's social scene. The food is great, the drinks are even better, and the ambiance is unbeatable. Every year Kim Bates, a regular summer resident on Shelter Island, celebrates her birthday there. I had forgotten how magical the place was until this past Saturday, when I was lucky enough to join in on the celebration.

[Gold medalist tennis player Rafael Nadal is GOLD literally!]
The shoes in the Nike store in Beijing are pretty awesome. A large colorful selection of kicks that is sure to satisfy whatever color preference you might have. In addition, the life-sized pictures of athletes including Rafael Nadal are part of the whole Olympic theme the store has adopted for the Games.
