Last night saw the last gasp (or last middle finger) of Radar 3.0, as the recently-folded magazine bravely carried on with its previously planned Halloween party-turned media wake. The mag's latest/last cover model, Shannen Doherty, joined Maer Roshan, Jeb Reed, Neel Shah and the rest of the Radar family as they raged against the dying of the light until the wee hours of the morning. Old and new media showed up to pay their respects, many in Gawker's suggested costume of "recently laid-off writer/bloggers."

Its time to start buying those equities again! Forget the Oracle of Omaha, we've got Lockhart Steele! Lock appears to be the media man with the crystal ball as of late. His two-part prediction regarding the fall of Radar Magazine is coming to fruition. 1) Radar Magazine WILL fold, and 2) When it folds it WILL mark the bottom of the economy. Now Gawker has confirmed it.
"You will know when we have hit the bottom of this financial crisis the very day when Radar Magazine goes out of business. And you can quote me on that!"
Yes it's true Radar Magazine was some Risky Business. Especially in this world where Print Media is falling like flies. But please don't confuse our exuberance with Schadenfreude! Sometimes its just fun when you're right.
"A little birdy told us" that Uncle Steve was interviewing Britanny Mendenhall! It's true, two of our favorite online bloggers. We were there the night they met. Brittany has been a contributor here on GofG as well. Our favorite part of the interview was the quote above, in which Steve questioned Brittany's top 5 worst clubs, one of which he designed.
Oh I love this girl (as does Steve). Read the rest of the interview HERE.
How does Stanley Stuyvesant get his barrel-chested body through the day? Food of course! And it's never a good idea to allow stanley to get hangry, so its important that he gets food. Normally he loves to eat pig ears, however, you can easily nourish his soul by sending in tips. Have something Stanley should know? File this one under: "Geeks need to let loose too" and "You know you've made it as a website when you have parties thrown for your COMMENTERS!" When you graduate from "Gawker Highschool" you get commenting rights....then you get to go off on tangents with the other gawky geeks for the most fun you will have all day. Ah the Gawker commenters....many have the wit of the writers themselves, and they don't even have to quit their day jobs to get in on the action. Though it doesn't cost anything, you have to be accepted to be able to comment on the site. Just keep this in mind: no one is above money bribes, not even Nick Denton.

Today on Essentially Emily, a photo of Nick Denton at some kind of brunch in Montauk this summer, followed by Emily's trip to Mixona, a Nolita lingerie boutique. Emily heads downtown for a change and finally learns what a Teddy is: ("Okay, CONFESS: do you own a teddy? Do you want one? Like me, had you never heard of one until now?). More»
Stanley is down, but not out. With all this talk about doggies, Stanleyboy is getting a bit starved for attention. And Stanleywanley has lost a lot of weight. As a result, he needs food. What are the chances that we go to cover the Chelsea Hotel in Atlantic City on the very same weekend that there is a piece about the Hotel"s Fifth Floor nightspot in the Sunday Styles? I suppose great minds think alike. But I digress. We had a wonderful time at this new boutique non-gaming spot this weekend. There has been a lot of buzz surrounding this place, including the Fifth Floor where there is a bar and dance hall run by DJ Paul Sevigny (of Beatrice Inn fame) and a steakhouse named Chelsea Prime run by Stephen Starr (of Morimoto and Budakann fame).
It"s a bit of a gamble, no pun intended, but the Chelsea may just be what finally brings Manhattan hipsters down to the area and revitalizes an otherwise dodgy place.

Enter the Chelsea Hotel, ready to adopt this child and bring it its much needed nourishment of exclusivity.

An Open Letter From Rachelle Hruska - Editor Guest of a Guest
Like all good things, the summer of 2008, as much as I would like it to, can not be endless and must inevitably fade. Consistent with my good-willed wishes, temperatures have been hanging out in "Indian Summer" territory, but I'm afraid that too will soon pass. This weekend, after the Oyster Bay "Oyster Fest" and the Hampton's International Film Festival, it will finally be time say goodbye to all things summer, and all things Hamptons. So, it's also time for us here at Guest of a Guest to officially say adios to summer, but on the way out we thought we'd share some of our fondest memories that will hopefully help us through those cold winter days until next season.
First off, the launch of the Hamptons blog was a big step for us as a company. I enlisted the help of Claire Willett, an NYU undergrad, to accompany me on my adventure out East which proved to be one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. Yes, at times it was hectic, running back and forth between the city and the Hamptons, (god knows I've logged in my time on the Jitney), but at the end of the day we created a sister blog that I am very proud of and which I believe had wonderful content. And so, without further ado, my homage to Summer '08:
From Quogue to Montauk, Shelter Island to East Hampton, and everywhere in between....here are some of my favorite memories from this summer (tear):

Radar Magazine held its October issue release party on Wednesday night at Catch 22, with cover star Shannon Doherty! Actually, without her (she couldn't make it, don't know why), but everyone still had tons of fun! Guests like Michael Musto, photographer Ellen von Unwerth, and RADAR EIC Maer Roshan enjoyed the party, but we did miss Brenda!
