Last night, I braved to the cold to head out for Thrillist's 3-year anniversary at Greenhouse, the new eco-friendly club by Jon B's team. Thanks to Flavie Bagnol for whisking me out of the bone-chilling night into the pre-party in the downstairs space. Upon entrance, I was handed my "door prize," a seemingly innocuous business card for Thrillist - but wait! what's on the other side? A pithy phrase (pic at bottom) seemingly to put us back in our places if we were feeling too cool for being admitted, reminiscent of the slave following the victorious Caesar, whispering, "hominem te memento." (See photo of card below). The crowd I shouldered my way through, was made easier to take by pizza from Lassonyc and of course booze from party sponsors Dos Equis, Jose Cuervo, and uncorked.com (I had a bit of each), and the random arrival of my brother Nick, who was "just in the neighborhood".

So, in case you were living in a bubble or just came back from the moon, it's a rough time no matter what career you are in. As many may know, when the going gets tough all you need to do is PARTY! This is what people with jobs (er, ex jobs?) in the media did last night at the monthly Media Meshing organized by Gawker's video Guru Richard Blakely at Sweet and Vicious. We encountered lots of gossip and alcoholics of course.

TimeOut NY has a feature this week titled "They Need a Drink" showcasing some of the city's most recent laid of workers and where their favorite hangouts are to drink away their job woes. We got a kick out of the ex Radar Team. Adam Raymond, Paige Ferrari, and our favorite, Neel Shah seem to chose Marshall Stack to twitter their days away (this is also a favorite spot of Lockhart Steele from Curbed). The lazy drinking days were short lived by Neel, who has just gotten picked up by Page Six. Thankfully, it looks like he has his new phone up and running too.

Last week, editor in chief Kim Hastreiter along with our other friends from Paper Magazine, headed to the west coast for their 4th year in a row to "tap into the city's pop-art scene, set up a 24-hour department store and party through Sunday. The fruits of their ruckus will make up Paper's February issue." [LA Times] Their ruckus ended last night with a Sunday soirée they named "The Last Supper" hosted by Bijou Pillips and Danny Masterson at "Shin" a modern Korean restaurant in Hollywood co-owned by Steve Aoki, Gerard Butler, Julian Casablancas, Chris Masterson, Danny Masterson, Laura Prepon and Mark Ronson.

Christopher Bagley assured W Magazine readers that Angelina Jolie, the "onetime badass babe" has in no way become completely "soft" in this month's issue, though we aren't so sure. Look at these photos we got our hands on from the Kung Fu Panda's DVD and Blu-ray debut party at Gruman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood just last night. Angelina is looking as soft as American sweetheart Nataline Portman. Another similarity: they also both recently just starred in children's movies with Dennis Hoffman.

After we got one of Lavo's engraved glass slabs in August, we thought we had seen a new high-water mark for invitations. Now, Gradient Magazine has done them one better. For tomorrow's launch of Frequency 2 of the magazine, Matt Fried, Alan Vinogradov, and Barris Vinogradov sent out the invites pictured above. Hand-made, no two alike, these little pieces of art were put together by the Gradient team with inspiration from artist Gary Wenc who, is featured in this issue's Gallarei along side Emmitt Shine, Matt Siren, and Lucien Dulfan. We look forward to seeing what Gradient has put up their sleeve, as they host tomorrow night along with co-hosts Andres Serrano, Kipton Cronkite, Bettina Prentice, and Anastasia Rogers.
