I brought the brightest and funkiest clothes I owned down to Miami this past weekend.  And, I quickly discovered, that even the worldly Art Basel festivities were unsafe from the Miami stereotypes.  I was by far one of the most conservatively dressed folks running around Washington Avenue.  The rules, it seems, are simple: No dress too bright, nor hem too short, and the more glittery charms the better.  Take the woman I spotted on the left. I fell in love with the festive culture around me.  Some of my other Floridian Fashionistas that I spotted are below:

Eric Spear and I had so much fun in Miami this weekend.  Coming into the cold wind of NYC last night was not the most pleasant homecoming, however it's still good to be home working next to a live PINE Christmas tree, and not a Palm in disguise.  One of our favorite parties on Saturday night was GenART's Vanguard Art Fair party presented by Ian Gerard and FAGE.  The party brought an extremely diverse crowd ("What the hell is a child doing here!") and Charcoal Studios was large enough that you didn't feel crammed next to Miami hot things like some.  There was even a small pool to walk around inside!

With the economy in the tubes, Art Basel has a significantly less populace this year. This means that getting reservations at The Delano last minute may not have been as difficult to swing! Nonetheless, I decided to take a different approach and try something new and stay at the newest boutique resort called The Anglers. We were greeted by friendly faces and shown to our gigantic room decorated with live orchid plants. The decor is home-y and casual yet sophisticated, and we were even presented with a complimentary bottle of wine.

Art Basel-goers headed to Miami's Raleigh Hotel Friday night for Tommy Hilfiger and Vanity Fair's Benefit for Free Arts NYC with an evening of art, music, and champagne toasting American photography. Marc Jacobs, Jeremy Kost, and Ryan Locke checked out large projection displays featuring Free Arts NYC and TH Inside artists while Ally Hilfiger paled around with Esteban Cortazar. Kipton Cronkite and Zev Eisenberg hopped into the star of every party, the Mark Van S. digital photo booth. Andrew Andrew posed the night away for the photogs while Paul Sevigny worked the turn tables and Todd Eberle, Katie Lee Joel, and Vincent de Paul flipped through the newest VF issue featuring cover girl Tina Fey.

Surely no scarfs or mittens were needed in Miami last weekend for all of the Art Basel festivities which included one very special wedding anniversary party for Haley and Jason Binn of publishing power house, Niche Media. While New Yorkers endured the cold, Miami party-goers mingled amongst the palm trees and sand to celebrate the couple's 5th Anniversary at the Fountainebleau Hotel's Gordon Steak. Guests included Russell Simmons, Lyor Cohen, Carmindy, Melissa Katz,  and newly single Ivana Trump who while taking a break from flashing her guns with David Barton, chatted up Kelly Rowland, and Serena Williams.

We have finally made it to Miami and can't wait to check out Ian Gerard's party tonight.  Yes, we have missed out on a lot of Art Basel, but we're here now and we're ready to take it all in.  Send us a line and tell us where you would like to see us tonight, and all weekend.  Ah Vitamin D...

We are deep in the middle of the Art Basel celebration in Miami and last night Interview Magazine hosted one of the hippest parties yet.  The party was to celebrate at the hotel Mondrian.  Among the guests that dined included Alan Katz, Gina Nanni, Glenn O'Brien, Hanna Liden, Nate Lowman, Ryan McGinley, Mary Kate Olsen, Christopher Bollen, Bob Colacello, John Demsey, Armand Assante, Athena Calderone, Andre Balazs, Elizabeth von Guttman, Linda Chodorow, Brooke Geahan, Aaron Young, and Fabiola Beracasa among others.

It's good to be a prince these days.  Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia (pictured in photo above between the two gorgeous women in white) has served on as the senior vice president of the jewelry department of Sotheyby's.  He is the founder and creative director of the jewelry firm bearing his name, Prince Dimitri, and he helped host a presentation of the goods at Casa Casuarina in Miami on Wednesday night.  With a name that translates into real royalty and jewels to go around, what woman wouldn't want to accessorize with the Prince?

It's Art Basel time!! And last night's opening party, thrown by the NY Times T Magazine at The Penthouse at The Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach, brought out the die hard art fans.  This year, many predict a dramatic decline in money spent both on the major Art Festival and at it.  Art may be the last thing that many would think about buying right now, but that's not stopping art enthusiasts like the Schnabels, Calvin Klein, Takashi Murakami (who showed up in a festive flower power costume), Stefano Tonchi, Naomi Campbell, Rachel Zoe, and Pharrell Williams among others.  Yours truly will be heading down Friday to check out the scene.
