Japanese Artist Creates Miniature Cities With Paper

by Kristin Rachlin · June 18, 2012

Big cities can be difficult to navigate due their large size, crowded streets, and overwhelming atmosphere. Yumiko Matsui has seemingly solved that problem with her creative, and impressive, paper cities.

Matsui, who was born in Osaka and now works in New York, uses only paper and glue to create her detailed recreations of different aspects of cities. Although she originally used memories of her childhood home to inspire her creations, she has recently began including New York as well. On her website, Matsui writes:

"I hope to provide small happiness and kindness to people through my art work."
