"Rainbow City" To Welcome Guests To Section 2 Of The High Line

by Mara Siegler · June 1, 2011

After more than three years and $66.8 million of work, Section 2 of Chelsea's High Line Park will officially open next Wednesday, June 8. To celebrate the expansion, AOL has partnered with FriendWithYou to bring a forty piece environmental installation called “Rainbow City” to the lot on 30th street in the Chelsea art district.

The multi-colored , balloon pieces were first seen at the Luminato Festival of the Arts in Toronto and later at Art Basel Miami 2010.  Kids are bound to like the piece, which is essentially a 16,000 square foot playground, but adults are sure to have their inner child awoken and want to partake as well.
