SXSW is mostly recognized for tech and music, why did you find it important to carve out a space for art?

So many people flock to Austin every year for SXSW - it seemed like the perfect opportunity to reach a large group of people and offer them something other than the usual activities. We wanted to take the focus away from music, because honestly, there’s enough of that going on, and we wanted to showcase work by poets, video artists, performance artists, as well as visual artists.
