God I love the Olympics. Finally there is something good to watch on daytime television! I realize many of you may not have such a non traditional work day as myself so let me tell you what has kept me on the verge of my seat the past hour:
Women's Water Polo. I couldn't stop wondering how a girl gets started in this business. Why wasn't this an option for me growing up. I would have gladly traded the ballet and tap lessons for some water polo.
Did you know that women's water polo wasn't a sport in the games until 2000! The men were playing the sport in the Olympics centuries before us. I think it's funny that a game that started out as a way to pass the time at local watering holes became an Olympic sport. Oh and the athletes? They aren't so hard on the eyes either. See photo above by Joe McNally. In case you're wondering, in between the Today show and Martha Stewart, the U.S. women's water polo team crushed China 12-11.

Plovgh, the new online farmers market
Who knew that the farming world had a trend? Well, Mallory Sustick, a Brooklyn bartender, works like a dog to maintain, promote and advance the online farmer's market startup Plovgh that began after noticing a need for more local farm market distribution.

Water polo players are friggin HOT!! Hahaha!! I've been on this since high school when I took stats for the water polo team (which my first boyfriend was the captain of). Forget the football team, water polo players were THE gods at my school in Southern Cal, which was one of the top-ranking high schools in the country, and which spawned a few Olympians in the sport in the 80s and early 90s! Talk about the ideal phsyique!
