Daily Style Phile: Puppet Maker At Milk
Last night at the Norman Jean Roy event at Milk Galleries, Ari Cohen spotted this fabulous woman. She makes marionettes for a living. Notice her bling “change change change” for Obama. Love. Photo with her and her friend below:
Daily Style Phile: Helen Marcovicci, The Stylish Torch Singer At The Algonquin

I spotted this lady( who is perfect for my site) in the lobby of the Historic Algonquin Hotel just hours ago and thought she looked charming in her big red glasses and printed silk scarf. I was there to do a little research for Mimi Weddell’s big hat party and I’m sure Mimi would be a fan of this woman’s style as well. It turns out that her name is Helen Marcovicci, and she was a well known torch singer in the 1940s. I look forward to hearing her music and checking out her new album, though she made sure to let me know that I couldn’t afford her for our party ha!
Daily Style Phile: Spotted: Dapper Dalton Students At Juliano’s
While meeting with Mimi this afternoon uptown at Juliano’s coffee, we spotted these fashionable young things from Dalton. “Is that how these kids are really dressing these days?!” exclaimed Mimi. No, they were sadly just coming straight out of theater class. Not sure what play they were in but I’m anxious to see if Ari found out.

Daily Style Phile: Happy Veteran’s Day!

[Susan B. Anthony has nothing on this patriotic fellow and his colorful pooch]
The spirit was palpable at the New York’s Veteran’s Day Parade this afternoon. Fifth Avenue was set ablaze with patriotism as this colorful fellow strutted his stuff amongst a crowd of cheering spectators. I wish I had even half of his style!

There are very few people in the society circles of New York that havn’t heard of Douglas Friedman. A man with such an original style deserves to be celebrated, which is exactly what I plan on doing. I met Douglas, the well known photographer this summer at the Tahari event “God’s Love We Deliver” in the Hamptons, and was giddy over the outfit he pulled out at Allison Sarofim’s “Evening of Anime” last Saturday. Hosting a Japanese themed party? Douglas will show up dressed as a California roll! What a guy!

Daily Style Phile: Derek Blasberg, This Is How They’re Bred In The Midwest

[Derek in between the Olsens. Photo via Patrick McMullan]
I never knew quite what to think about Derek Blasberg. I would see him at various parties here and there, but the only thing I knew about the guy was what I read from Gawker back in the day when they were trying to pinpoint who was behind the whole Socialite Rank site. My interest was piqued today, when I browsed over our post on the Olsen Twins launch of their first book “Influence” Monday night, in which Derek Blasberg was an editor. Famous for his impeccable taste in fashion, (and arm candy), Derek hails from Missouri, my hometown’s border state to the south. I am sold.

Daily Style Phile: Dylan Lauren Keeps Getting Sweeter And Sweeter
Dylan Lauren is not your typical heiress. She has made an Wonka-like empire out of knowing candy the way her father (Ralph Lauren) knows polos. And tonight, she will unveil her bigger & better King Size Dylan’s Candy Bar store on Third Avenue. We are excited to see the million dollar(s) renovation that the flagship store underwent. Dylan has been helping satisfy sweet tooths for years, and she’s been looking fabulous along the way.

Daily Style Phile: Richie Rich, The Number One Celebutante
Celebutante: The word appeared again in a 1985 Newsweek article about New York City’s clubland celebrities, focusing on the lifestyle of James St. James and Dianne Brill, who was crowned “Queen of the Night” by Andy Warhol. [Wiki] A cross between a socialite and debutante, a celebutante is famous for being famous (think the Hilton sisters, Nicole Richie, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Edie Sedgwick…and now, Richie Rich, the ultimate Celebutante has used the word to title his latest CD. Daily Style Phile: Chris London, Manhattan Society’s Hunk

[Chris London gets all the ladies]
Chris London, I love you. We all do. No seriously, we love you. Not just because you take good photos either. We actually love YOU. You are the best. I dig your style. I have your blog on my RSS feed. I peep through your snaps of socials. I loved bumping into you last night (it was a definite highlight of my night), and hope that it happens more frequently. You make this fun.

Daily Style Phile: Happy One Year Anniversary Emily Brill!
Aww Emily. We tried to ignore you, to announce your irrelevance, even to stop reading you. But we failed…miserably. When we’re left with nothing to write about save for our old jokes on DBTH counting his baseball cards, you were there. You were there when we needed fodder for a Rose Bar post, information about the small catfights going on uptown that we wish we didn’t care about, and, more importantly, you were (and are) there to make our lives easier. Often times, with you, the jokes write themselves…which is why we just can’t quit you. On to your most recent post:
“Brace yourselves. Confession: I can pretty much pinpoint my origin on the ‘circuit’ to the Whitney Studio Party, so if when people ask me when this all began, I guess you could call tonight a one-year anniversary, This really was my first night out on the town after losing the weight–can you believe it?”

Daily Style Phile: Rich And Tamie, NYC Nightlife’s Hottest Couple
Rich Thomas (of Strategic) and Tamie Peter Thomas (of Tamie Peters PR) are very good at their jobs (their latest, last night’s T Mobile G1 Party was a smashing success). True team players, these two are not only some of the most helpful PR executives and managers in the city, they are also the best cheerleaders to each other. It’s completely adorable how in love these two are, and it comes out in every job they take on. Besides being at the top of their game in their field right now, they are actually PLEASANT to be around, some of the nicest people in the industry, and have killer taste. Don’t believe me? Check out the photogenic couple below:
