One half of the powerhouse team Verrecchia & Partners -- the two brothers responsible for producing some of the coolest restaurants (such as Café Gitane at the Jane Hotel), music (such as covers of Serge Gainsbourg's songs), magazines (such as L'Officiel Hommes), along with fashion and art out there -- Vassili Verrecchia has a lot to be happy about. He's getting married in June to his fiancé, Lara, his lifestyle allows him to travel the world, and he's got a bevvy of new projects in the works.
While his brother, Timothee, runs the NYC office, Vassili takes on the Paris-based side of things. To gain some insight to what inspires such a creative and entrepreneurial spirit, we asked Vass to show off some of his favorite worldly and sentimental possessions in his Paris home. See where Vass's travels have taken him... More»
Since launching the Frieze Art Fair in 2003 in London, Amanda Sharp has seen the fair grow and evolve into one of the world's major art events of the year. This year, for the first time, she and her partner Matthew Slotover are bringing Frieze to New York, where it will open on Randall's Island on May 4th. Displaying art from 180 galleries, Frieze New York is expected to bring contemporary art to New York in a way that's never been done before. Amanda spoke with us about bringing Frieze to New York, how they're adjusting it for New Yorkers, and what we can look forward to this year.
Last night marked the two year anniversary of An Afternoon With; a photo blog that features creative New Yorkers in their homes. Past subjects include Richard Haines, Andi Muise, Shelly Steffee, Jason Carroll, Jace Lipstein, Paige Bluhdorn, and most recently, Refinery29 Senior Editor Kristian Laliberte.

In addition to celebrating their two year anniversary, last night's event, which was at Parlor in Soho, served as a benchmark for changes that will be coming to the site in the upcoming months. I was able to speak with Nhi Nguyen and Michael Mundy, who founded the site, about how they got their start and what we can expect from An Afternoon With in the future. Go HERE for photos from last night's event, and click HERE for our event post! More»
When I first walked up to Super Linda in Tribeca, it looked like a dive diner I would have expected to find on Third Avenue. Much to my surprise, the upstairs proved to be reminiscent of a quaint Caribbean restaurant, and the downstairs, or El Jockey (Super Linda's exclusive lounge), offers two main tables that are compartmentalized in to their own sections, along with a seating area with small tables. The walls are covered in wooden panels and paintings of horses (fitting for its name), and the bar is all lit up in pink lights.
With a charming Australian manager, a welcoming staff, and delicious Latin American fusion food, Super Linda is a little getaway right in Manhattan. I got a chance to catch up with Super Linda's head chef, John Martinez, who talked about the inspiration behind the food and the restaurant. Check out what he had to say... More»
With only $25, will power, and endless support, Adam Braun started a global movement called Pencils of Promise, a non-profit organization that seeks to build a foundation for the aspiring and inspirational youth living in third-world countries.
The dream began while he was working at Bain & Company; he took a back-packing trip through more than 50 countries where he would ask children what they wanted most. Expecting to hear things like X-boxes or T.V.'s, to Adam's surprise these kids just wanted to go to school. More»
This Earth Day, Veronica Webb wants you to recycle...your jewelry! This supermodel turned environmental role model is campaigning with CIRCA -- the largest global buyer of diamonds, jewelry, and watches from the public -- to expose the dangers of the mining industry, and the power shoppers have to save the planet.
"I've always been environmentally conscious," said Ms. Webb "I've always recycled and bought organic... But I never thought of jewelry being sustainable until my kids started going to school, and started asking questions [about mining]... I knew I had to learn more." More»
Spring in New York's Meatpacking District: Christian Louboutins are flashing their telltale red, tulips are blossoming on the High Line, and just below, a boutique shop called STORY is painted in a spectrum of color, with vibrant merchandise to match each hue. But if a visitor were to pass by a few weeks from now, they'd find a completely different store -- or so they'd think.
Founded last December by marketing consultant Rachel Shechtman, STORY is a very special kind of retail space. Every four to eight weeks, the store is completely renovated -- its walls, decor, and merchandise are changed to reflect a new theme. Currently, that theme is "Color," but before March 28, it was "Love," a nod to the romance of Valentine's Day.

Happy spring! This morning marked the official re-opening of the Central Park lawns with the "first mow" of the season, and who better to host an event involving parks and recreation than Aziz Ansari from "Parks and Recreation"? Ansari gave a short speech then rode around on a lawn mower on Sheep's Meadow along with Doug Blonsky, the President of Central Park Conservancy. We got a chance to speak with the comedian (who just released his latest DVD, Dangerously Delicious, Louis C.K. style on his website for just five bucks a pop), the prolific tweeter, and all around "friend of the stars" at an ungodly hour this morning...about tacos. Rainer Judd wears many hats. She is an actor (you may remember her from Jack with Robin Williams); a filmmaker; an artist; and the President of Judd Foundation, which seeks to preserve the living and working spaces of her father, the artist Donald Judd (1928-1994). Within Judd Foundation, Rainer works on a number of projects both in New York and in Marfa, Texas, where she lived for part of her childhood, but despite being so closely involved with the foundation, Rainer manages to bring her own ideas and vision to all the work she does.
See what Rainer had to say about her upcoming projects, her life growing up in Marfa, and the goals of Judd Foundation. More»
