[Marchers at London Pride 2009. All photos by Getty.] There was a different kind of celebration across the pond on Saturday as members of London’s gay community took part in the city’s annual Pride march. Much like NYC’s Pride parade last month, spectators were dazzled by flamboyant costumes and colorful characters as marchers danced, sang, and just had a good time along the parade route from Oxford Street to Trafalgar Square. We all know about The Cobrasnake’s Star Trek-themed dance parties that have besieged the club circuit in various cities around the globe, but this weekend we got glimpse into some pre-outer space festivities when Mark Hunter posted a few not-so-seductive pics of himself in a bubble bath sans rubber ducky. Is this how Mark gets ready to party, or did he need to wash some of that green body paint of off? More»

[London's iconic Neal's Yard under a sea of 10,000 balloons as Aero recreates the new 'Feel the Bubbles' advert at Neals Yard in Covent Garden on March 26, 2009 in London, England. Getty]
This is what Covent Garden in London looks like RIGHT NOW! It’s part of an ad campaign for Aero candy-the milk chocolate bar filled with bubbles?! (Can you feel the bubbles?) Wouldn’t it be fun if this were happening right now in NYC’s West Village? More photos below… More»

British socialite Peaches Geldof spent some valuable father/daughter time with dad Sir Bob Geldof at the front row of the Luella show which started off London Fashion Week at The Flower Cellars yesterday. But, more importantly, they were there to cheer on sister Pixie Geldof who walked in the show (she’s the one with the spiky white hair). Peaches spent a brief time on the NYC social circuit but has recently decided to head back to her homeland, where she will be staying. More photos from Luella below.

ASW’s ASMALLMAGAZINE is up and running. And, with their presentation of the top NYC Socials last issue, they had to have a counterpart for our sister city, London. Not an ASW member? No worries, read below from their “Village People: Field Guide to London’s Ladies-About-Town“:
“Londoners will often describe their city as a collection of villages, each as different from each other as are London’s various social scenes. In Camden, for example, the music scene reigns supreme, whilst a day in Shoreditch is as good as any fashion show. The Hills (Notting and Primrose) are both meccas for yummy mummies, but the former is glossy and groomed, to the latter’s artfully dishevelled reformed rocker. Each village has a leader of course – the public persona that typifies the village in style and personality. Here’s our guide on matching the face to each place.”
Place: Primrose Hill
Neighbours: Sadie Frost, Pearl Lowe, Davinia Taylor, Alice Sykes
Origin: The modeling or music world. This girl’s a semi-reformed rocker merging a heady social life with virtuous macrobiotic existence.
Style Stakes: Stylist friends rustle up ingenious vintage finds from 80s YSL to original Biba.
Arm candy: A guy who can wear skinnier jeans than her – some musical prowess also required. Kate’s current partner in crime is Jamie Hince of The Kills.
News from the English press is that actress Emma Watson, has just made a deal to be the new face of the Chanel fragrance Coco Mademoiselle. You may remember Watson, who has played Harry Potter’s main homegirl, Hermione Granger, since 2001. The little wizard girl seems to be turning into quite the bewitching woman or at least the aesthetically more qualified people at Chanel surely do think so. To a writer that has always had kind of thing for the little bit nerdy, little bit weird girl who blossoms into the belle of the ball scenario this is magical justice.

Imagine going out to a club, a determinately hot spot with an A-list crowd (a la Socialista or Beatrice Inn), and finding it devoid of hipsters? Well look no further than London. On a recent jaunt there this weekend to visit friends, I went to Volstead to experience the Soho area of London. Not being a regular in the London scene, I had no juice with the door, but an easy call to my hotel concierge and a reservation proved to be a very effective work-around. The doorman (Nick) greeted our group with open arms, and ushered us down into the 1920s retro spot. More»
