This past weekend, the New York City Police Museum had its annual car show. On Saturday and Sunday, these classic cars were on display until 2 pm, at which point they did a loop around the Museum with their sirens on, giving contemporary New Yorkers a chance to see these relics in action. More than anything, the show, which took place in the first area of Manhattan that was developed (the southern tip) seemed to be a reminder of just how classy everything was (and is) in NYC, even pragmatic institutions such as the police department.

I wonder if the other glasses are jealous…because these lucky chosen ones are going to have a fun life ahead of them housing sweet summer drinks held by fashionable Hamptonites….

Who cares about the girls, look at their men in the background cheering them on!
Over this past week Talia Eisenberg and Berel Berko hosted artist Saul Zanolari”s new debut solo exhibition, “Saul Soul”, for the grand opening of the Heist Gallery. The work of Saul Zanolari is mesmerizing and mystical yet also displays an almost synical twist. The still quality of his prints make his work accessible while also heightening the effect of the sinister elements he employs.
This exhibition consists of eight prints and runs until June 30th at the Heist Gallery, located at 27 Essex Street.
Last night on the corner of Ludlow and Stanton in LES, I along with many others were fortunate enough to witness the CLASSIC overweight drunk man in “tighty whiteys” who kept his shades on in the dark. It may be too often we come across something like this because really we should never have to experience it, however it did bring a puzzled smile to my face.

Back in October, on opening night of Anton Corbijn”s first feature film Control, herds of Joy Division diehards flocked to the Film Forum. Like many New Yorkers who were turned away from the sold out show that night, I didn’t get a chance to see Control in the theatre. Thus, when I heard about Pianos free screening of the film last night I knew it was an event that I couldn’t miss.
Do you remember when the news came out that the Lower East Side has become an endangered historic area due to all the development going on, and the media was worried about that for a whole week before moving on to something else? Do you know whose is responsible? Bruce Willis. No, seriously. Bruce Willis and his right-wing Republicans are ruining the neighborhood.
Last Sunday I attended the Olive Juice Record”s weekend music festival held at the Cake Shop in LES. It was a free event featuring great antifolk bands. My roommate from the band Dinowalrus has played there before and only had good things to say about the venue- leaving me completely curious of its alluring qualities. Many of the bands played upstairs, however I witnessed the headliner Jeffrey Lewis upclose and OH so personal.

Unstoppable Perfect is a bi-weekly party I throw with my friend Julius Onah over at Happy Ending. This party in particular was “hella” crazy. We had not only our house dJs, but we also had DJ COBRA KRAMES who was just insane on the turntables. I bought Honor along with me and he seemed to have a good time as well! Though I look crazy and drunk in the photos, I had actually not had one drink. Haha! When I go out I usually only have Shirley Temples and I get crazy for no reason. Haha. I think I dance too much though, because my legs are always sore after going out.

Every Wednesday night, Resident DJs Dimity!!! and Prince Terrence host the party at The Annex on Orchard Street. High Voltage! at the Annex has become quite the scene, it even has it’s own Myspace page. A couple GofG photog’s were there this Wednesday to get the scoop.

If Modest Mouse had an even zanier little cousin, it’d sound somewhat like the Atlanta band The Press. Like its predecessor, The Press like their yowls light and their lyrics winsome, with a twist or two of quirk. What makes The Press stand out, however, is their knack for injecting rootsy and funk-pop elements, sometimes in the same song. Think Rock Lobster-style B-52’s meets Dispatch meets folksy Ween. Nice, oui? Check them out tonight at the Delancey.
