After seeing “My One and Only” last night at the Paris Theatre, I have an entirely new perception of George Hamilton. The movie, a baby of his that took quite a bit of work to get produced (as he told all of us before showing it), was about his cross-country journey in a baby-blue 1953 Cadillac Eldorado convertible with his single mother (played by Renee Zellweger) and gay brother (played by  Mark Rendell). Both Renee Zellweger and Logan Lerman (who played George) gave remarkable performances in the film that was “smart, fun, and affectionate.” More»

Harvey Weinstein, Christoph Waltz Inglourious Basterds graced the screens again last night in a desperate bid to drum up attention for the film’s public release on the 21st. After all this is the film that alone could be the life float to  Harvey Weinstein’s sinking company. This second showing was attended by some heavyweights in the industry, such as Gretchen Mol, Gael Garcia Bernal, Amy Irving, and Christoph Waltz. But getting people to show up to a free screening with a fabulous after party is easy. How the general public will respond to the film is the real question. And one that will be answered this weekend.  More photos from last night’s screening below…. More»

The Cinema Society and Hugo Boss hosted a private screening of Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” in New York on Monday, drawing an immense and star-studded crowd to the School of Visual Arts Theatre on 23rd street in anticipation of the courageous and visionary project. The new film, which stars Brad Pitt as the leader of a makeshift band of nazi-hunters travelling through a gritty and stylized portrait of 1940’s Europe, represents a much needed comeback for its producers at the Weinstein Company. We will dearly miss the man who brought us movie magic such as The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, Planes, Trains & Automobiles; Christmas Vacation and so many more classic movies we grew up with, and will continue to watch, again and again.

The 10th Annual New York International Latino Film Festival — whew, that’s a mouthful — is going right now in our lovely city. Get your tickets! Last night’s red carpet screenings included Where God Left His Shoes (perhaps in Westboro?) and Fast & Furious, the ampersanded/article-devoid 4th sequel to Vin Diesel’s The Fast and the Furious franchise thing. Celebrities were there! Here’s some pictures. More»

Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel[Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel. Arlen Faber (Daniels) is the reclusive and misanthropic author of “Me and God,” a book that has redefined spirituality for an entire generation and has been translated into over 100 languages. More»

An eclectic mix of the fashionable and famous flocked to the IFC Center last night for a screening of “In the Loop,” a political comedy starring James Gandolfini. Among the partygoers were Beth Ostrosky, Gandolfini’s Sopranos co-stars Vincent Pastore and Tony Sirico, and throwback heartthrob and “Barely Breathing” singer Duncan Sheik. More photos below…. Sacha Baron Cohen substantially shocked anxious audiences last night during the boisterous Bruno (a satire about an extremely flamboyant gay fashion victim) sneak preview at the Regal Union Square Cinema hosted by CollegeHumor. Love it or hate it, (Rachelle was apparently so disturbed she almost walked out), this movie is sure to get people talking…  More»

Michael Cera, Jack Black.[Michael Cera, Jack Black. All photos by JIMI CELESTE for PMc] Partygoers went old school at AMC Lincoln Square on Monday night at Columbia Pictures’ premiere of “Year One,” a comedy starring Jack Black, Michael Cera, Oliver Platt, and David Cross. The movie, directed by Harold Ramis and produced by Judd Apatow, tells the story of two hunter-gatherers who are cast out of their village, and unwittingly become a part of history as they encounter famous Biblical characters on their journey. [Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, and Quentin Tarantino arrive in Cannes. Photos via Getty]

Hottest trio of the Cannes Festival will undoubtedly be going to the stars behind “Inglourious Basterds.” The film, which was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, stars Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Mike Myers, B.J. Novak and more.  The story is around a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as “The Basterds” in Nazi-occupied France during WWII.  They are chosen to spread fear thoughout the Third Reich. The actors were on hand to pose in Cannes yesterday.
