This weekend, the 2009 All Points West Music & Arts Festival in Liberty State Park took over Jersey City, offering the tri-state area incredible entertainment a whole lot more accessible than the treks required for Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, or several of the other music must-sees. More»

Last night’s Arlo Guthrie concert in Battery Park for the River to River Festival looked pretty chill, but let’s be honest here: the real party is going to be tonight’s kick-off of the All Points West music festival at Liberty State Park. Jay-Z is headlining! (The Beastie Boys were supposed to, but Adam Yauch sadly came down with a wee bit of throat cancer.) More»
Have you ever wondered to yourself, “What has Eddie Vedder been doing since he recorded all of those songs that made me slightly suicidal?” As we recently found out from Josh Mohrer of Busted Tees, Pearl Jam has recently launched an online scavenger hunt for fans. [Bob Sinclar takes over Club VIP St. Tropez nightclub]
It’s been awhile since we’ve heard “World Hold On” blaring from the rafters of a nightclub. Two years ago, you would hear this and “Love Generation” at least five times a night. What happened to Bob Sinclar? I remember asking my friends last weekend. Well, today I found out. He’s released a brand new album (where have I been!?) titled Born in ‘69, and is taking over the nightclubs in Europe to start a new wave of Sinclar addicts. Go HERE for his full lineup. This June, he started off the “Tour” at the VIP Room nightclub in St. Tropez and we have the photos of the party from a reader.

[Projected Photo of Michael Jackson at 40 by Ebony Magazine in 1985] Back in a faraway land of leg warmers, big hair and rock ballads, b.k.a 1985, Ebony Magazine commissioned Chicago artist Nathan Wright to create a projected picture of what our beloved M.J. would look like at age 40. A caption next to Wright’s portrait, on the left, predicted that Michael would “age gracefully, and acquire a handsome, more mature look”- probably an accurate prediction if Michael had let nature run its course on his (at that stage) slightly altered face and skin color. [John Forte, photos by CHANCE YEH for PMc] John Forté, ex-Fugee member, astounded us yet again last night with his fresh, lyrical beats at the album release of his first EP album in seven years: StyleFREE. The performance took place at the ever-hip RDV in the West Village, a unique setting to celebrate the release of his new album which Forté described as “cathartic” following his release from prison (he was in for drug possession). Guests at last night’s performance included Talib Kweli, Sky Nellor, DJ Logic, and Ben Taylor.

[A mourner at Michael Jackon's funeral at the Staples Center comes bearing flowers. All photos via Getty] How many times have you heard “Thriller” or “Bad” played out in the past week? Ever since news hit of Michael Jackson’s passing, party DJs have jumped on the chance to remember the King of Pop through his music. It died down over the Fourth of July weekend, for sure, but with today’s memorial all over the news, there’s sure to be another surge of MJ anthems. Since we’re partying types with a moral conscience, we implore DJs: respect MJ’s memory, and pick the appropriate song to play at the appropriate time! Here’s our Guide to What MJ Hit to Play When, followed by some pictures of the funeral ceremony: More»
