One of my favorite memories of Summer ‘09 was the time I got to spend with the Guest of a Guest team in Nantucket. Thanks to Chrissy Coolidge, we were given the VIP treatment; riding around the island in an old VW…picking out our Murray’s reds, drinking “elbow benders,” and even getting up onstage at the Chicken Box. You forget sometimes that Manhattan is an island. Probably because, like us, you rarely leave it. Outer boroughs? What are those? Well, last weekend we hopped to another isle, Nantucket, to mix things up from the usual Hamptons tripping. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the brand new Volkswagen CC we were so generously loaned to make the drive to Hyannis, was the fresh meat to the island car we hopped around in while on ACK, also a VW. In one hour, the GofG team will be heading on a big road trip. While Team Hampton will be chronicling all of the adventures out in the East End of Long Island, Sarah, James, Sarah and I will be with Stanley romping around the island of Nantucket. Apparently there’s this thing called the Opera House Cup going on, and we just couldn’t resist the chance to see ex-gofg writer Chrissy and all of her sailor friends.
