October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, painting New York City pink through various fundraiser events. This past weekend, the Avon Walk traversed the concrete playground, ending in Hudson River Park with an impressive $9.5 million raised for the cause. We very much enjoyed some participants wearing the Save the Tata’s shirt reading, “Save a Life, Grope Your Wife.” That is the perfect example of how there are countless ways to show support, and each little bit helps. Last night, The GoodsforGood Organization hosted an intimate “Innovators Dinner,” a multiple-course African-themed meal with live music at Madiba in Brooklyn.  The organization, founded by Melissa Kushner, brings excess items from the U.S. to help impoverished children living in Malawi.  In the month of June alone, they plan to raise enough money to ship 10,000 pairs of new sneakers. Last night, 675 Bar served up specialty cocktails for Love Heals’ “Healed With A Kiss” event to benefit the Alison Gertz Foundation for AIDS Education. The guest list included Timo Weiland, Danielle Snyder, Briana Swanson,Vanessa Boekamper, Marina Albright and Jameson McFadden, as well as Committee Members Annabelle Dexter Jones, Anne Volk, APC Founder Justin Belmont, Eliza Howard, Grace Gummer, J.P. Gutfreund, Molly Howard, Rachid Kallamni and Stefani Greenfield.  Guests enjoyed an evening of music by Alexandra Richards in addition to a silent auction. More»

Guest, a former president of the NCS, was joined by other board members, prominent socialites, and businesspeople in supporting the org’s community-based efforts to alleviate homelessness. More»

Operation Smile and New London Luxe teamed up and invited stylish do-gooders to Shop for the Cure yesterday at the New London Luxe store in Chelsea.  Attendees browsed through luxurious jewelery and handbags all in the name of charity.  A silent auction was also held, which the shoppers participated in while sipping cocktails and sampling tasty hors d’oeuvres. April showers bring May flowers, and the flowers were in full bloom last Thursday at the Edison Ballroom for Village Care of New York’s 8th Annual “Tulips & Pansies - A Headdress Affair”. The floral headdress show (all of the pieces were made from real plants and flowers) gave designers like Tory Burch, Alvin Valley, Thierry Mugler, Pamella Roland, Chado Ralph Rucci, Cynthia Steffe, and others the chance to join forces with floral artists, resulting in magnificent — and fashionable — works of art.
