“I am just a simple guy that never thought his life would have changed a year ago. It went from a normal night of having dinner with friends to going out to parties as my partner’s “plus one”. Flashbulbs, camera crews and bold face names everywhere. This blog documents the world of the socials from the eyes of an outsider.”
So starts Stephen Keefe’s (SK) (David Gruning’s* plus one) new blog, “Aspirations of a Social Climber.” It’s a deliciously candid look into the life of a plus one trying to make it in a world of socials in NYC… More »
Bee Shaffer may be the daughter of Anna Wintour, ruler of the world, but that doesn’t mean she’s not afraid to roll up her sleeves like the rest of us. We hear that the young socialite will begin working her cute little buns off as a lowly assistant. Graydon Carterneed a new PYT to accompany him around Monkey Bar? Maybe Martin Scorsese wanted help with a new film? Nah. Bee’s lucky new boss may surprise you….
We haven’t checked in with our favorite klepto, Paul Johnson-Calderon, since “the incident” that sparked a world of controversy, and landed him in all of the gossip pages of the land. Long story short, this socialite was caught stealing a purse from the Eldridge and we managed to secure the footage of him in action! Well, last night at the Whitney, PJC proved that he was ready to let bygones be bygones, going so far to even show off this friendly “5 finger discount dance” (at left). CUTE! More »
[Photos by NEIL RASMUS for PMc]. What will be the hot topic of conversation at tonight’s Whitney studio party? “Summer scandal”Ali Wise’s appearance in court, today. The Dolce & Gabbana PR Director and all around scene-ster answered to felony charges of computer trespass and eavesdropping. Hacking into designer Nina Freudenberger’s voicemail to spy on ex’s Jason Pomeranc and Josh Deutsch landed the blond beauty in jail for a July evening, when she should have been sunning in the Hamptons. [Chris Brady and friends, at last years Hunt] This Saturday marks the 89th running of the Far Hill Race Meeting, otherwise known as “The Hunt”. This Horse Race is New Jersey’s biggest event of the fall, drawing over 50,000 people, though it more aptly refers to ”the race” of those desperate and dateless men and women who will try their best at a last minute dash to secure some sort of hook-up prior to the desolate break that is the New York winter.More »
[Frederick Hafetz , Anthony Marshall's lawyer pictured Left] As an anxious press crowd gathered around the visibly sullen Frederick Hafetz, Anthony Marshall’s defense attorney, months of inter-family turmoil enveloping uptown New York concluded with a few short statements outside the Manhattan Supreme Court. The lawyer proclaimed that his client, son of the late Brooke Astor, “plans to appeal.” He also somberly asserted that, “Anthony loved his mother.” More »
The Astor verdict is in, Anthony Marshall has been convicted. The late society chronicler Dominick Dunne is most certainly sitting in social Heaven quite disappointed to have missed the haute monde trial of the semi-century. The case involves the late Brooke Astor, an upper east side dowager renowned for her class and altruism, and her son Anthony Marshall, 85, who allegedly attempted to defraud his Alzheimer-impaired mum out of $60 million dollars (already pledged to New York charities) with the help of real estate lawyer Francis Morrissey, 66.
The original complaint not only shocked the social world with the alleged betrayal of a beloved social icon by her own son and heir, but also detailed a state of squalor in which dame Astor was allegedly rendered by her plotting son and his wife. The report makes Grey Gardens look like the Taj Mahal and Edith Beales’ last days seems like paradise.
Our correspondent Emily Hollander is outside of the New York Supreme Court on Centre street awaiting the results of the Astor trial verdict. Developing…
[Kristian Laliberte, such an upstanding gay citizen] It started with an angry tweet from social gay Kristian Laliberte, claiming The Georgica Restaurant & Lounge in East Hampton wouldn’t kick out a high-rolling patron who allegedly verbally insulted him with an anti-gay tirade. When asked for specifics, Laliberte would not divulge, however, he readily took the opportunity to stump against the use of anti-gay words. The Georgica Management also declined comment, however, thankfully for two anonymous tipsters, we now have the other side of the story… More »
This weekend social gay Kristian Laliberte tweeted that he was verbally “assaulted” at The Georgica Restaurant & Lounge in East Hampton by a heterosexual patron who apparently spouted a verbal barrage of hatred at the man-about-town. When Laliberte cried foul to the management, he was told that the person couldn’t be kicked out. Why? Because they spent a lot!
@kristianlaliber - Love getting assaulted at georgica and being told the douche who called me a jew and a fag was too rich to get kicked out
