Summer’s over when we say its over! And, that is NOT happening yet. Who isn’t feeling completly BEAT from Fashion Week? This weekend, it’s time to forget the designer duds and head back out to the beach. Don’t forget your Tonka Trucks and Goldfish….

These guys probably don’t want this photo resurfacing, but hey, that’s what we do….provide you with an inner portal to those crazy worlds of night life that you may hopefully never have to experience in large doses. The Hamptons hot spots are all still open this weekend, however there will be very few people that matter there. EVERYONE is in the city, embracing fall fashion week, and buying tickets to tables that may be worth something, well at least give them something that they can remember the next day.

We bid a fond farewell to the Hamptons 2008 at Evian’s Taste of Polo on Sunday, at the beautiful Water Mill home of Michael Borrico. Katie Lee Joel hosted and gave away signed cookbooks to guests, including Nacho Figueras and his wife Delphine, Hugh Grant with his new girlfriend Catherine Fulmer, Beth Ostrosky, Morris and Jaci Reid, Brittny Gastineau, Devorah Rose and Sam Talbot. The crowd was treated to a demonstration polo match The scrumptious food was provided by Mr.Chow, Four Seasons, Surf Lodge, and Bagatelle.

I’m more concerned about this pink confetti outfit choice on the left than anything else to be quite honest. I’m not sure if this is supposed to be a joke (in which case I guess it’s okay), or if this gal really wears shit like this on the weekends. It looks similar to my birthday outfit I wore in 3rd grade to the local rollar skating rink, except shorter and more sparkly.

I finished my summer exactly the same way I started it: At the Social Life Estate. On Memorial Day I, like hundreds of others, skated past the super tight list and walked up the long driveway to a grand manse with the most prominently well lit step and repeat (which is straight out of Hollywood). The house was a visual delight as far as sponsors and party-goers are concerned. While all of the parties are strictly A list, a few girls dressed in their prom best always managed to get in; this of course only added to the people watching factor.

Elton John refers to Rufus Wainwright (best known as the voice behind the soundtracks of “Moulin Rouge” and “Shrek”) as “the greatest songwriter on the planet” but his unique orchestral pop music has reached far beyond film soundtracks. Last Saturday, the artist performed at the Robert Wilson Watermill Center for “The Last Song of Summer” concert, along with Jörn Weisbordt, Daniel Knox, and Jessye Norman.

Yes. He finally made it to Pink Elephant. His summer is complete. Labor day weekend saw the clubs in full force out east. Hundreds were packing in all over the east end to get their moves on for the last “real” weekend to party of the summer. Friday night was rockin’, but it was just a warm up….stay tuned.

Saturday night, we found ourselves under the gracious party tent at Australian art dealer Andy Valmorbida’s Southampton compound. It was a celebration to honor the launch of Raphael Mazzucco’s new book: “The Collected Art” designed by Giovanni Russo with a forward by Carine Roitfeld. Raphael’s work was on display around the periphery of the tent. It sold out before the party was over. The photo of Adriana Lima was the most popular.

The NY Times Sunday Styles did a piece on Dune in Southampton this past weekend titled “A Yacht Party In The Sand“. It mentioned the $2k pricetag on tables, the inspiration for our daily column “Best $2k I Ever Spent!” Having actually BEEN at DUNE this Saturday, I felt compelled to give my two cents:
I hate nightclubs.
Even more than that, I hate going to nightclubs in the Hamptons…

I’m not sure how much the tickets were to the EquiFit benefit out at the Laundry restaurant in East Hampton this past weekend, but these guys were going to make SURE to get every penny’s worth. What do you do when you’re at a PR driven benefit with nothing to do? You make up your own silent auction rules and start breaking loose under the tents of course. This event was held to benefit the Equestrian Aid Foundation, and it is clear that this gentleman is doing his part to support the cause.

Last Saturday, Aug. 23, we headed to Stone Meadow Farm in East Hampton (the place where Mariah Carey recently got married) to celebrate the 125th birthday of the American Red Cross. On the way in, I was greeted by Rob Rich, and so, we finally meet in person! I also walked in at the same time as my friend Heinz Haas, the tennis pro/teacher who has some BIG things coming up. Russell Simmons, was there, (his jewelry line was one of the evening’s sponsors) as was George Gurley who was interviewing guests on thier favorite moments of the summer. Russell said it was the summer of:
“Barack Obama, as well as yoga, the environment, PETA, the Humane Society and fund-raisers (his July 19 Art for Life event raised $1.7 million).” [The Observer]
