NYC Prep, Episode 2: “Flip of The Hair”
Even though born and bred Upper East Sider Ariel Moses swore she would never watch the inane Bravo show NYC Prep, I somehow talked the Horace Mann and Columbia educated New Yorker into submitting herself to the incessant nonsense that is the Gossip Girl knock-off. Afterall, being a transplant, I could never fully understand what these kids were talking about (besides that they sounded like absolute idiots… am I allowed to say that about 16 year olds?). And what better way for Ariel to express her true feelings about the “real”ity show than on Twitter! C’

If you’re female, gay, into fashion, have a girlfriend, or are one of the straight, single men who secretly tune in every week to the New York phenomenon that is Gossip Girl, then you have probably classified every female you know into one of two categories: Serena or Blair. Since the writers of Gossip Girl have now decided to keep us in suspense for weeks at a time in between episodes (not to mention the plot lines that are becoming more and more mediocre), we now need to supplement ourselves with GG extras like this. New York City is stock full of the show’s wannabes. Whether you identify with the hippie-boho-chic blond or the preppy-bow-sporting schemer we have some ways for you to figure out one of the big questions in life so you’re not up all night tossing and turning: Are you a Serena or a Blair? Because seriously, Which SATC character are you? is like so 5 years ago.
With “The Real Housewives of New York City” star Kelly Bensimon’s life crashing and burning around her, we thought we’d give her a little career advice. Since she seems to be in the market for reality TV gigs these days, we’d recommend her being the next “The Cougar” contestant on TVLand’s new television show, premiering April 15th. More»
Bravo has finally announced their latest show to premiere on May 7th. I have been patiently awaiting the announcement so that I could officially congratulate one of my best friends, and favorite designer, Keith Lissner. The Fashion Show sets fifteen professional designers to compete in a competition to have their designs sold in the retail marked. Isaac Mizrahi and Kelly Rowland are the hosts. I am so excited to watch Keith in action! More»

Last night, Nickelodean hosted their “Kids’ Choice Awards” where The Jonas Brothers won “Favorite Music Group.” A shocking 90 million votes were cast for their category and others like Favorite Female Singer (Miley Cyrus-duh). That’s about three times more votes than the average “American Idol” top twelve contestant. Go HERE for the full list of last night’s winners and click below to check out the photos…. More»

Decked out in outfits definitely not appropriate for a high school prom (I’m sure the chaperone would have been having a fit over the length and the tightness of some of those numbers), the cast of the CW’s 90210 celebrated their season’s wrap party at the at the Coco de Ville in Hollywood this past Saturday. Terry Schappert just might be the ultimate American Warrior. And now on the History Channel he’s got his own show to share his experiences. Terry gave 9 years of his life to the Green Berets and served pretty much everywhere the US had military interests. Terry “retired” from the Berets to pursue an acting career. While experiencing a nice level of success, 9/11 came along. The event left Terry to ponder whether to remain an actor of to re-enlist and protect America from the new threat that had arisen. Terry returned to the Berets and served three tours in Iraq. More»

Last night HBO held a screening at Time Warner Center for their new series The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, which is based on the popular mystery novels of Alexander McCall Smith, and stars singer-actress Jill Scott. Joining producer Harvey Weinstein were Lynn Whitfield, Gloria Steinem, Naturi Naughton, Tanya Lynette Lewis, Liya Kebede, Gaius Charles and Sonequa Martin, author Walter Mosley, and many other guests.

The cast of Gossip Girl gets down and dirty in a full-on pillow brawl. The photos are taking over the web. “There’s so many pictures I love,” photographer Richardson says. “The ice cream ones were amazing. The ones inside were awesome with everyone and the pillow fight and all in bed. It’s just been awesome — they’re great, wonderful. Two thumbs up.” [Rolling Stone]

Much criticism arose from local media that this season of Top Chef did little to take advantage of the New York stage set in front of them. With the exception of Le Bernadin, it is hard to pinpoint any moment where a viewer was offered a taste of the City (the hotdog “quick fire” was foul). Attempts to take fans through tours of Little Italy, Curry Hill, Chinatown, and the Boroughs were way off point, and could have been filmed in any specialty store around the country. More»
