We promised to roll out new features this week, and we’ve delivered.  You can now comment on any photo in either a guestofaguest image gallery or an indivdual’s profile page.  Right now all comments on photos are anonymous (in order to save commentor’s from having to enter in a lot of information), but they will be moderated (so be nice!).

So if you see a fun party, or a dress you like, a guy or gal you fancy, something that inspires you to sound-off, and realize that the picture could use a few extra words of expression, now is your chance!

Keeping in fashion with the designers in Bryant Park this week, it was time to debut our own latest design…Everything you know and love about our site is still there, it’s just jazzed up a bit, courtesy of the very talented Andrew Hearst. We hope you enjoy!

We will continue to roll out new features over the next few days and will keep you guys updated on all that is new. Happy President’s Day!

Spotted: an old school Bart Simpson Tshirt in one of Cobrasnake’s photos from THIS album.  I wish I could find my old Simpson shirt so I could rock it out around NYC (don’t pretend you didn’t have one).  In fact, there are still plenty of people that are proud to display their Simpson shirts.  Go HERE to buy your own, as well as all of your other old 80s favs, and click below to see some more of Bart…

Four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and three-time Daytona 500 winner Jeff Gordon takes a spin with his wife Ingrid and two-year-old daughter Ella. February 9, 2009 on the Magic Carpets of Aladdin attraction at the Magic Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.  Gordon visited the Walt Disney World theme parks the week leading up to the 51st running of the Daytona 500.

In the past 5 years or so, the US has has taken an alcoholic tour through the Latin culture in search of the ultimate warm-weather cocktail…Cuba first brought us the Mojito (white rum, sugar, lime, mint, and soda) - followed by a full line of artificial mixers, a line of malt beverages from Bacardi, and countless renditions from clueless seasonal bartenders out East. When the name reached “Cosmo” status at venues everywhere, we looked to Brazil for the next sensation where we found the Caipirinha. Nearly impossible to pronounce at first glance, and even tougher to spell (it took me 3 tries in this posting), it consists of Cachaca, sugar and lime. Essentially a Mojito without the mint. I see a pattern forming here…

Yes, they really do exist.  A real treehouse in the heart of New York City! This family (of artists from what we could gather from the studio windows of their apartment) has built a pretty amazing hideout for their child(ren).  Snapped by Stephanie Wei from her living room window, this is in the middle of some buildings in LO-FI (lower fifth avenue), and its the best thing we’ve seen all day.

“He made it look really fun” - Julie Worden [NY Times]

Today, everyone is talking about the loss of one of our city’s finest characters.  Joe Ades aka “the peeler man in Union Square” died on Sunday.  He’s had numerous media profiles; all the New York newspapers, Vanity Fair, and The Today Show to name a few.  And he WILL be positively missed.

On January 26th, people in Perth, Australia gathered on a local beach to watch a sky light up.  Nearby, fireworks exploded as part of Australia Day celebrations.  On the far right, lighting from a thunderstorm flashed in the distance.  Near the image center, though, seen through the clouds, was the most unusual sight of all: Comet McNaught.  Go HERE to read more about how this amazing photo was captured.

There’s nothing like the simple drawings and artwork created by a child that you just can’t seem to take down from your refrigerator or off your desk at the office.  The website website may be completely in Russian, but the magic of these pieces transcends the language barrier.  Stumbling across these photos inspired by the scribbles and colors of children’s drawing was hardly shy of finding gold as each photo brings the imaginations of these youngsters as close to reality as possible.

Hooray for a new year’s list that doesn’t feel like a cheap throwaway! This year, one of our favorite publications, the French quarterly WAD Magazine, has taken on the ambitious project of creating a comprehensive urban fashion dictionary, one that includes more than 500 fashion industry terms, trends, brands, shops, models, designers, and, as their blog states “all those who we believe are urban-fashion scene’s key actors, the scene that’s fascinated and excited us over this past decade.” The behemoth of a directory is formatted alphabetically in both English and French, and is truly a testament to the past ten years of the fashion world, released in December to celebrate WAD’s own 10th anniversary.
