Hooray for a new year's list that doesn't feel like a cheap throwaway! This year, one of our favorite publications, the French quarterly WAD Magazine, has taken on the ambitious project of creating a comprehensive urban fashion dictionary, one that includes more than 500 fashion industry terms, trends, brands, shops, models, designers, and, as their blog states "all those who we believe are urban-fashion scene’s key actors, the scene that’s fascinated and excited us over this past decade." The behemoth of a directory is formatted alphabetically in both English and French, and is truly a testament to the past ten years of the fashion world, released in December to celebrate WAD's own 10th anniversary.

We've all wanted to do this on a plane…I suppose a reminder of how simply exhausting a campaign can be.

The Green Fairy has finally landed in my arms.  I have returned home to find a delightful gift awaiting my arrival.  Pernod Absinthe.  "Please enjoy Pernod Responsibly" read the card.  The absinthe brand has unleashed their new bottle, and a new site "art & absinthe".  Believe it or not, I have never tried absinthe before.  I have, however, heard numerous stories from friends and I am part nervous, part excited to give this gift a proper opening.  Before I do that, I want to know….what are some of your Absinthe Memories???

No more champagne! (Merkato 55) Photos by STEVEN EKEROVICH

It's not unusual to see corked bottles of rosé popped midday in the French Riviera during summertime or in New York for that matter.  But Seeing dozens and dozens popped in New York during December in freezing cold temperatures is sure to raise a few eyebrows.  And then of course if you add Jeroboams and Methuselahs of champagne into the mix (ushered to tables with an entourage of sparklers), you have a true anomaly.  Or a kickin' party.

Dabney Mercer, Sebastian Bland

Go HERE for more photos by JT WHITE and TAG YOURSELF and YOUR FRIENDS!

Spotted: Dabney Mercer (Tinsley Mortimer's little sister) twirling around the dance floor at Southside with none other than Sebastian Bland (Kashmir Snowdon-Jones' beau).  Don't worry, these two are just close friends.  Kashmir was there too, and they all boogied the night away this Thursday there. JT followed the group, after the fashion for food event and gives us a look at what Southside looks like on a Thursday night.  And, from his photos of patrons rolling on the floor, it doesn't seem like much has changed at all from our lovable Bellas.

Guess who's in the NY Times today?!  It's none other than Lorna Kleidman, world Kettlebell master who trained Claire and I in the Hamptons this summer!  This woman is seriously strong, and in just three years  she went from Greenhorn to International Master of Sport and National Champion.  Go read Claire's interview with Lorna here, and check out the piece in the NY Times HERE.

Congrats Lorna!  I can't wait to get my butt kicked by you again!

[Northern Public at Arlene's Grocery]

Go HERE for more photos from the show!

Last night, Northern Public played their debut show at Arlene's Grocery and the reviews were positive.  The band, made up of members Dan Menz-Erb (guitar and vocals), Nick Confessore (guitar), Chris Paul (drums), and Gautam Peri (bass) have been practicing every Sunday night, and it showed.  We were impressed.  So were the other guests that filled the venue (at 7:00pm no less) including media folk like Nick Denton, Jessica Coen, Jesse Oxfeld, Chris Rovzar, and loads of others including the entire GofG team.  A couple of weeks ago I sat down with Nick to get the scoop on his band.  Here's how the exchange went:

OMG do you guys remember this????!  I knew the lovely ladies of Full House were ahead of their times.  Play this clip until about halfway in and you will notice a familiar name on their drumsets.  The first and original "Girl Talk" mainly did covers of Ace of Base hits.

Kelly CutroneKelly Cutrone

Me: "Hello?"
Kelly: "Hi is Rachelle there?"
Me: "Uh, This is her…."
Kelly: "Oh hey this is Kelly, I saw your message on facebook*, how's your day going?'
Me: "um, Kelly?**"
Kelly: "Yeah, Kelly Cutrone from People's Revolution."
Me: "Oh wow, thank you so much for calling me!"
Kelly: "No problem it's easier to get in touch with me than you thought huh?"

Thus began what I hope to be a fruitful relationship with the one and only Kelly Cutrone.

Ari Cohen, Mimi Weddell[Mimi Weddell and Ari Cohen going over notes at Juliano Coffee]

Ari and I are very excited to start planning an extraordinary party for Actress-Model-NYC figure, Mimi Weddell. It will be hard to put together an affair that is half as extraordinary as the woman herself, but if anyone is up for the job it's Ari.  We met with the 93 year old up at Juliano's coffee today where we sat and listened to Mimi share her most personal contacts with us via her planner, an unorganized concoction of handwritten names and addresses, it was amazing to me that she manages everything on her own still. Mimi's newest film titled "Hats Off" is being released to DVD.  Get ready to see more from Mimi and her fabulous style!

[Snake Twister is a universal constant]

Go HERE for more photos from the JIVA InfoTech Party.

When they aren't working hard for GofG, they are ripping it up on the Snake Board in India. Many people don't believe us when we tell them about our programming team in India that works on GofG.  JIVA Infotech are some of the best offshore developers around.  Though we've only met once, we all feel like we know the crew across the river well…the benefits of skype.  This September, JIVA went to a "Techies Together" Conference in India at a "club" called "The Golden Dragon" and uploaded the photos to our test site. They looked like they were having a blast!
