So this is how they do Summer in England! On Sunday, the good people of Cornwall (the Montauk of the UK, if you will…) merrily donned their swimcaps and raced into the (probably freezing) water to participate in the Belly Boarding World Championships. And honestly, we’ve never seen a happier group of women. First of all, their bathing suits rock. For that matter, so do their bathing tutus. Some of Hollywood’s finest actors including Tilda Swinton, Matt Damon, Ewan McGregor, and George Clooney, ventured to Venice for the 66th International Venice Film Festival from September 2 through 12.  This year only five of the 23 films entered are American, including Michael Moore’s new documentary “Capitalism: A Love Story.”  The jury for the festival headed by Oscar-winning director Ang Lee will decide a winner on the 12th.  Last year, “The Wrestler” starring Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei won the festival.

Who says the Italians get to have all the fun? The movie premiere of Agallas (English: Guts) was a success at Proyecciones Cinema on September 3, 2009 in Madrid, Spain. (Yes, Proyecciones is actually spelled right.) Among the silver screen stars to make it out to the Spanish crime-drama premiere were reviews Hugo Silva, Carmelo Gomez, Clara Lago, Anne Igartiburu, Isabel Serrano, and Jose Toledo. The pictures of the sultry Spaniard actors are enough to get anyone to switch from “ciao” to “ole!”

The main difference between the Venice Film Festival and, say, Cannes or Sundance? Instead of arriving by limousine, celebrities arrive to their premieres in Gondolas. Besides that, it’s just another star-studded film festival with killer fashion and insane parties every night. Eva Mendes, Nicholas Cage (look at the picture at left: don’t they look so bummed to be there?) and Viggo Moretensen are just a few of the celebrities forced to spend a week of their life promoting movies in one of the most beautiful cities on earth. Salman Rushdie took some time out of his busy schedule of being one of the most famous writers in the world to attend the premiere of “Francesca“, along with a date.

Hugh JackmanHugh Jackman was very much the man of the hour at the Japan premiere of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” in Tokyo. Just making its way east after the May debut in the states, the movie still culled quite a crowd. Jackman fans went crazy as the performer pulled up on a Harley Davidson and then entertained on the red carpet, flanked by Japanese actors Naomi Kawashima and Ryuta Sato against a giant poster backdrop of his own likeness.

Candace Jordan, Alex McCordAfter opening up the Manhattan outpost, Alex McCord is onto the next stop with her Second Time Around store promotion circuit. Yesterday’s Chicago opening featured the New York Housewife and co-hostess Candance Jordan, who welcomed those popular, ready to browse the racks of both the new and gently recycled, but still very coveted, threads.
