Last night began with a committee meeting for the Trinity Place Holiday Fundraiser. Trinity is a homeless shelter for LBGT teens in Manhattan. Our event is being held next Tuesday, December 2nd at Aspen Nightclub. Scott was asked to be on the benefit committee by our friend Matt Tratner and others on the committee include old friends Scott Sigler and Douglas Hill along with new friends including Josh Wood, Oscar Apaydinli, Russ Williamson and Mike Ruiz. We definitely encourage everyone to try and stop. It is for a great cause and tickets are only $25 to drink all night! Now that’s a bargain in these recessionary times!
If you’re free for lunch come on down to Chinatown, and watch lots of cute guys run around in shorts! (if you like that kind of stuff - Rachelle and the interns left me in the office to go watch). The soccer match is between Grassroot Soccer UNITED v. Hollywood United FC, marking the halfway point of Ethan Zohn’s journey from Boston to NY (while dribbling a soccer ball!) to raise awareness for Grassroots Soccer. The teams will consist of:
Mark Consuelos (television and film actor)
Sean Evans (writer -Rush and Molloy, Daily News)
Ethan Zohn (Co-founder Grassroot Soccer; 2002 Survivor Africa winner)
Jimmy Jean-Louis (actor, Heroes)*
Anthony LaPaglia (actor, Without a Trace, president Hollywood United Football Club, Australian
Donal Logue (actor, Reservoir Dogs, other television and film)*
This is a fairly common condition that we find ourselves experiencing after reading articles from popular periodicals. Today was no exception. The New York Post ran a story today about the growing number of kids that are taking private jets to summer camps this year, many that are less than an hour away. Its not the more obvious issuse of people spending $8000 for a 30 min flight for jr., or even the demands these little tykes have been coming up with on board (Cap’n Crunch, pedicurists, and pb and j’s) that irks us…We are more concerned about the way Mr. O’Hara is holding his daughter Danielle in the photo that accompanied the article (pictured above). The look on his face and the grip he has on the poor girl is just wrong in so many ways.
p.s. The best part about summer camps from our memories included being able to act like you DIDN’T come from loser parents such as ones portrayed above, being able to get dirty, and…..the bus ride there and back.
p.p.s The kids get props for the Cap’n Crunch requests.
We are unleashing the first in our series of “Where will they be? Play along.
With all the current talk about Nello’s, we have decided to profile our favorite Nello’s patron, the precocious, six and a half year old darling, Madisonne.
Madisonne is best described as a professional dress twirler and can be found parading around the upper east side’s Nello’s on Saturday afternoons in one of the hundreds of dresses she owns by Luna Luna Copenhagen. She is in fact, the favorite of Nello Balan’s little cupcakes and is usually accompanied by her no-name sister who is 2 years her junior and whom Madisonne goes back and forth with being completely supportive of and utterly disgusted with.
Madisonne’s hobbies consist of heading the Brearley after school ballet program (which she helped start last fall), shopping, collecting ponies (real ones), curling her hair into ringlets “just like the fabulous Tinsley does”, and pouting. Madisonne has recently shown an interest in fashion to her mother’s delight. She can most frequently be found in the dressing room at Berkley Girl on Madison Avenue (though lately she is beginning to think that the store that tailors to 8-12 year olds is a little too immature for her tastes and thus has branched out to the Bergdorf children’s section, Bambini for teens and Olive & Bette’s downtown.). Her favorite “dress down” item is her Pucci inspired “Flowers by Zoe” skirt. If she can’t twirl in it, she won’t buy, end of discussion.
Madisonne’s dislikes include her younger sister (half of the time), bratz dolls (“so unlady-like”), people that spell her name “Madison” or “Madisen”, Claire’s stores, lame birthday parties that she feels obliged to attend to, and her co-parts from Spence that “dress in clothes from Ibiza and Calypso and think they are “free spirits”.
