Daily Style Phile: Elizabeth Olsen, Sundance 'It' Girl

by Mara Siegler · January 25, 2011

You may not have heard of the third Olsen, but you will.  With two films kicking ass at Sundance, 21-year-old Elizabeth is being hearkened as this year's 'It' Girl and is set to overshadow her famous twin sisters.

Elizabeth stars in “Silent House,” a thriller from the directors of “Open Water,” which has been getting good reviews. But it's “Martha Marcy May Marlene” that's creating major buzz for the actress with her role as a damaged young woman who escapes from a cult-like community.

Elizabeth has already signed on to her next project, a movie with "Buried" director Rodrigo Cortes called "Red Lights."  She'll star beside such big names as Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver and Cillian Murphy in the film which is being dubbed a “thriller about paranormal activity.”

Sounds like she is ready for stardom.  There's no way to tell if she'll be able to take the insta-cred she's currently generating and turn it into a sustainable film career,  but with what looks to be two major films she already has Ashley and Mary-Kate beat. But can she eclipse or at least parallel them when it comes to their impeccable sense of fashion?

It's hard to tell. Elizabeth has managed to stay out of the limelight despite growing up under the glare of Hollywood, but there are a few pics that give us hope that her sartorial sense is on par with her fashionista family.

Very Royal Tennebaums with a cute barette and leggings.

    Red lips and black lace.

Rocking a Kimchi Blue shortsleeve printed silk dress.

Here she is in this month's V Magazine.

This look could be borrowed right from Mary-Kate's closet.

    Nothing as droolworthy as say...

but she's just getting started. There's hopefully plenty to come, so we'll give her the benefit of the doubt. The twins weren't always so fashion forward. It took them some time to develop their look.
