It’s a little bit ironic to have Kim Bates as the Daily Style Phile pick today because she is the one who should be making these picks, not me.  She has, after all, made a career out of tracking and forecasting trends.  There is no “one word” I can think of to describe Kim Bates.  Rather, the culmination of words like fashionable, chic, sassy, popular, stunning, classy, elegant, fabulous, posh, sparkling, polished and witty are needed to do the job. Kim is all of the adjectives above and so many more.  She is the woman I pictured in my head as that “posh New York ‘it’ woman” when I was a little girl in the Midwest dreaming of the big city.  She is a trend setter, a role model, and an inspiration….and she’s just getting better with age.

Kim is also the QUEEN of the LBD (Little Black Dress).  Her favorites are YSL, Chanel and Halston. I love the little black dresses from Maria Cornejo, Marc Jacobs, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Hoss, Rag & Bone, Form and the super talented Keith Lissner. She also has quite a vintage collection including pieces from the likes of YSL, Chanel and Halson. This summer Kim has set out to break her LBD habit and has forced herself to wear COLOR.

Color or none, I think Kim’s positive energy radiates through whatever she decides to throw on!

Happy Birthday! xoxo

what is wrong with jsus? obviously mad to have missed out on recognizing a trendsetter and that a midwesterner did. The other beauty of this Ultimate Trendsetter, Kim Bates, is that she really is that…and in terms of fashion, much more so than any in the film industry limelight that only know how to call their stylist and otherwise look appalling disheveled on their own.
