The Young Professionals Society for the Arts held their annual Spring concert on Saturday at the Baruch Performing Arts Center in aid of Suicide Prevention International. The Benefit audience heard special performances by Yoed Nir, a prolific cellist who has recently recorded with Rufus Wainwright, and New York-born violinist Akiko Kobayashi.
All proceeds from the event will go to Suicide Prevention International, a non-profit organization that works to fund suicide prevention projects worldwide. Supporting survivors and their friends and families, SPI also use their influence to assist mental health professionals who specialize in dealing with suicidal patients and survivors. SPI will also hold a "Walk for Life" on May 8th in several cities across the country and so far they have already raised $12,046!
