Summer screams BBQ, so use your rooftop bash as an oppurtunity to break the grill out. New Yorkerers only have 3 months out of the year to make the most of comfort foods like hot dogs and burgers, so show your guests what they've been missing most of the year with easy BBQ recipes from pesto pasta salad to burgers with chimichurri sauce.  Click HERE for some more tips on how to throw a DIY BBQ.

Chimichurri goes perfectly with any BBQ dish, here is a quick recipe on our favorite go-to sauce:

Chimichurri

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup red-wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons minced red bell pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons chopped flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons oregano leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot red-pepper flakes
  • 1 fresh bay leaf (optional), finely chopped
  • Stir all of the above ingredients together and let the chimichurri sit for 2 hours before serving on favorites from hot dogs to burgers!
