Olivia and Blair, together at last. Today’s post on Izzy Gold, brought back a rush of memories from our summer affair with socialite Olivia Palermo. I can NOT believe I have not written more on how Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl IS real life Olivia Palermo (just a younger, richer, and preppier version). Omg it’s UNREAL how similar (the hair, the style, the SKIN! the SKIN!). I was planning on just leaving this post at that…. Blair is Olivia. BUT THEN! EUREKA!! I found this awesome “How To” on wikiHow titled “How to be like Blair Waldorf”. And well, I’ll just let the steps speak for themselves:
How to be like Blair Waldorf aka Olivia Palermo:
Try getting blue contacts and dyeing your hair very dark brown. You can blow dry or straighten it, as long as it’s healthy and shiny. Blair Olivia is 5″4, with blue eyes and straight brown hair or sometimes might do loose waves depending on the occasion
Dress preppy, but also a little bit sexy. Have a gorgeous preppy boyfriend. He doesn’t have to be smart, but he has to be VERY sexy and desired, as well as very preppy. Bonus points if he’s rich and loves sailing.

olivia and i had a class together last year and i can tell you that she certainly did NOT seem very intelligent. she was very quiet, actually, and quite nice. we had a few good chats about things unrelated to academia, but, really, she’s not very “quick”.

C. she doesnt get asked to appear at any events bc her reputation is so prestigious, she only gets invited bc she spent all her parents money growing up on charities just so she would be able to go to the events and get the what….2 seconds of fame that the public barely even payed attention to before she had the “hit show” the city….

The similarities between the fictious Blair and the Olivia that she tried to paint herself as are strikingly similar. However, at the end of the day one is just a character and the other isn’t exactly what she seemed to be. However, that aside - Olivia is certainly beautifl and despite what anyone says on here her intelligence, learning issues and money are somewhat irrelevant. She’s anice girl - there are no facts that any of the crap about her is true (ALL HEARSAY) and remember just like Gossip Girl, The City is a tv show - edited to give you whatever impression they want to give you. Don’t take it all so seriously!

If you have ever been to an event, you would know that the cost of plate is not the actual cost and proceeds will be going to charity. For a charity to put on the event, they have better chances of getting more money by who attends the events and the media that follows. Just so you know….
Secondly, who are we to judge someone that I am sure 99.9% of people would like to be.
I think that Olivia is a wonderful person, and probably has her faults as everyone does. I am sure that Olivia was around way longer than gossip girls, therefore the character could be based on her, but only because she is a socialite that is highlighted in the media.

Celebrities and Socials are prey to peoples negative perceptions of them round the world, how would you feel with such pressure and constant scrutiny shadowing your everyday life?? Olivia may not have any academic credentials or be as literate as the next person but when did it become ok to ridicule someone becasue of that??

Blair’s eyes are blue. If you bother to read the books, Blair has “periwinkle blue eyes.” It’s just Leighton Meester had brown eyes and didn’t get contacts. Plus that thing has been on wikihow since waaaaay before the TV show, so that’s probably why it says blue.

The Gossip Girl books were first created in 2000. When Olivia was about 11 or 12, so actually Blair has been around longer one sense.
Maybe the recession will motivate upper middle class girls who are missing actual pedigree (e.g. Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg is a socialite; Olivia Palermo is not) to do something useful with their time.

I’m considered a social in most circles in Australia and what seems to be apparent here ladies is that there is a typical typecast when it comes to girls or women I should say who are beautiful and wealthy. Glamour comes with a price and reading some of these blogs can take a toll on a person. I worked hard to get where I’am and it’s something you all should consider doing instead of bickering over two reality TV stars like Blair (Leighton) and Olivia.

You have to give the girl her props. She came out of NOWHERE and became a top “social.” If you search, you will find pics of Olivia with Tinsley, Fabiola and their ilk. I don’t know what she did to piss everyone off, but she was headed for fame a la Tinsley. Clearly, however, she is not down and out because she still gets invited to stuff.

Oliva went to my high school.. she isnt a real socialite and is not bright at all.. Oliva crashed into a BMW car dealer ship and totaled 5 BMW’s. yeah shes not bright at all and shouldnt be on the show.

Oliva has to be reeeettaaarrrdeedd! Seriously.. as a “socailite” shouldn’t she know who people are? Asking Whitney WHO she is and WHERE shes from? Ha. I hated The Hills and saw The City for the first time today, and I would even be able to know who Whitney is without asking? So she either has to be an idiot or just a terrible actress.. her “brand” should be wiped off the face of the earth.

B. the story of gossip girl was based off of the spence school in new york city on 91st between madison and 5th…in case no one knows this…oliva was not a smart young lady; with her pea sized brain and her manolo blahniks strapped to her feet, she failed most of her tests at school such horrible grades that she couldnt get into any of the prestigious schools in the city and had to go to a school for kids with learning disabilities, despite the fact that she didn’t have one.
C. she doesnt get asked to appear at any events bc her reputation is so prestigious, she only gets invited bc she spent all her parents money growing up on charities just so she would be able to go to the events and get the what….2 seconds of fame that the public barely even payed attention to before she had the “hit show” the city….
moral of the story….she is NOT a social…NOT a nice citizen of nyc…and certainly NOT blair waldorf…..that is one messed up theory.

these is so stupid LOL i think wath happens here is that blair ir bassed on all the socialite from the upper NY not one in especific come on guys there not gonna base there show on that its more of like i said its the image its wath represents living there and being part of that culture .

The similarities between the fictious Blair and the Olivia that she tried to paint herself as are strikingly similar. However, at the end of the day one is just a character and the other isn’t exactly what she seemed to be. However, that aside - Olivia is certainly beautifl and despite what anyone says on here her intelligence, learning issues and money are somewhat irrelevant. She’s anice girl - there are no facts that any of the crap about her is true (ALL HEARSAY) and remember just like Gossip Girl, The City is a tv show - edited to give you whatever impression they want to give you. Don’t take it all so seriously!

If you have ever been to an event, you would know that the cost of plate is not the actual cost and proceeds will be going to charity. For a charity to put on the event, they have better chances of getting more money by who attends the events and the media that follows. Just so you know….
Secondly, who are we to judge someone that I am sure 99.9% of people would like to be.
I think that Olivia is a wonderful person, and probably has her faults as everyone does. I am sure that Olivia was around way longer than gossip girls, therefore the character could be based on her, but only because she is a socialite that is highlighted in the media.
I can’t believe that most of you were never taught what I consider a cardial rule, “if you haven’t anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all”

For all of you who hate Olivia so much, then how the hell do you know so much about someone you despise???
Obviously you follow her and clearly you watch ‘The City” or you have typed “Olivia Palermo” inot google.
Celebrities and Socials are prey to peoples negative perceptions of them round the world, how would you feel with such pressure and constant scrutiny shadowing your everyday life?? Olivia may not have any academic credentials or be as literate as the next person but when did it become ok to ridicule someone becasue of that??
Don’t be jealous of what you don’t have, switch your Televisions off and try living your own lives before judging others!!

Blair’s eyes are blue. If you bother to read the books, Blair has “periwinkle blue eyes.” It’s just Leighton Meester had brown eyes and didn’t get contacts. Plus that thing has been on wikihow since waaaaay before the TV show, so that’s probably why it says blue.

The Gossip Girl books were first created in 2000. When Olivia was about 11 or 12, so actually Blair has been around longer one sense.
Maybe the recession will motivate upper middle class girls who are missing actual pedigree (e.g. Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg is a socialite; Olivia Palermo is not) to do something useful with their time.

I’m considered a social in most circles in Australia and what seems to be apparent here ladies is that there is a typical typecast when it comes to girls or women I should say who are beautiful and wealthy. Glamour comes with a price and reading some of these blogs can take a toll on a person. I worked hard to get where I’am and it’s something you all should consider doing instead of bickering over two reality TV stars like Blair (Leighton) and Olivia.

Blair Waldorf Is Definitely more charming than Olivia. I think Olivia is unbelievably rude, self obsessed, credit stealing, horible person who thinks she is better than everyone else. I think she is pathetic and should not be on The City or even have the job she has, I think Whitney actually has talent and the eye for fashion and I think Olivia is working off of her name (which by the way I have Never heard of her or anyone she knows) and really needs to go back to school and charm school at that. She is NOT a NICE Person. I dont like HER!!!!

LOLOL come on! Are you kidding me? Non of them are Royalty. Blair is daughter of a fashion designer and the other one is daughter of God knows who!!! Beside that fact, they’re both american, and in america as i GUESS everybody knows THERE ISN’T Royal Families, just new money and a very nice wardrobe… I think Olivia is more fashionable then Blair.

As other people have said, Blair is a fictitious character, The City does edit scenes to show people what they believe they want to see. Love the fashion though.
