Karl Lagerfeld Celebrates "KARL" Launch With Window Shops Around The World

by Courtney McGowan · January 26, 2012

To celebrate the launch of Uncle Karl's new eponymous line with Net-A-Porter, KARL, five pop-up window shops are being unveiled across the globe in Paris, New York, London, Berlin and Sydney.

The fashion festivities kicked off in Paris, where a mysterious cube that appeared on Boulevard St. Germain was officially opened by Mr. Lagerfeld himself.  The interactive window display allowed customers to scan, shop, and win pieces from the affordable collection.

“We are making fashion and technology history," Lagerfeld said of the high-tech, high-fashion project.

The first lucky visitors to the window shops even received some free KARL swag, like his iconic leather motorcycle gloves and starched high collars.

KARL will be sold exclusively online at Net-A-Porter for the next four weeks, offering 70 different pieces.

From draped jersey dresses, sleek trousers, and mod shift dresses, to leather collars, biker vests, and crepe blazers, the line is based on Karl's own strict obsession with a black and white color palette.

Unfortunately, as of this morning, a good portion of the online collection immediately sold out- but there's still some impressive pieces left, so get to shopping.
