1. Adidas and Jeremy Scott's collaborative JS Roundhouse Mid sneakers sparked quite a bit of controversy. The grey, purple, and gold high top sneakers has an attached handcuff above the ankle which, some interpreted as a reference to slavery. With the public enraged, Adidas quickly issued an apology.
"The design of the JS Roundhouse Mid is nothing more than the designer Jeremy Scott's outrageous and unique take on fashion and has nothing to do with slavery ... We apologize if people are offended by the design and we are withdrawing our plans to make them available in the marketplace."
The shoes were planned to launch in August but with the incredulous uproar, Adidas has pulled the plug. [NYMagazine]
