Feminists

4. Feminists
The couturier made it very clear that he isn't particularly fond of feminists; in an Harper's Bazaar interview he was asked to answer on Coco Chanel's behalf: "Harper’s Bazaar: Your clothing liberated women in the 1920s. Are you still a feminist? Karl Lagerfeld as Coco Chanel: I was never a feminist because I was never ugly enough for that." Sure, in his generation, and we're talking pre-WW II here, feminists were associated with unshaved legs and spinsterdom, who would even wear - yuck - pants! But we thought Karl was a little more up-to-date. And Coco would probably have responded something along the lines of "Women must tell men always that they are the strong ones. They are the big, the strong, the wonderful. In truth, women are the strong ones. It is just my opinion, I am not a professor." [Photo via]
