Want to know who was able to organize the first sit down dinner ever at the hidden Soho hotspot Upstairs this last Monday?? It was Carlos Campos and his team (Blackbook magazine and Kristian Laliberte) who invited 40 special guests to celebrate and view the spring/summer 2008 line of this acclaimed menswear designer and recent finalist for the Ecco Domani prize awarded by the CFDA. Never heard of the guy???
Well you better start taking note. He’s already dressed the likes of Justin Timberlake, the Killers, the Scissor Sisters, and a handful of New York Socials including Luigi Tadini, Antony Todd, and Kristian Laliberte. The dinner included filmmaker James Tully, photographer Douglas Friedman, Alvaro Salazar from Men’s Vogue, Crispin Glover and Annabel Vartanian among others. The party headed over to Beatrice Inn afterwards to greet other Campos fans including Annabel Dexter Jones. His collection, on models above, can be described as a pastiche of miami colors with rich fabrics, tailored cuts, and shocking linings.
Looks like kristian has realized what hard work can do. Unruly heir and now carlos–hopefully he is leaving the derek blasbergs of the world in the past.
Dandy Guy November 21, 2007 7:42pm
This dinner gets the D-List of the Week Award. On the plus side for Kristian, he has some new glamour shots to beef up his Manhunt profile.
Leven Rambin and Annabel Vartanian would go to the opening of a Walmart.
More importantly, the clothes are totally uninspiring… and being a “finalist” for Ecco Domani (which is not awarded by the CFDA) translates to “he didn’t make the cut.”
Lastly, who throws a fashion dinner in a dingy nightclub?!?!

In late 2007, five young professionals, long connected by both friendship and family, decided to pool and tap into their own altruistic nature while encouraging others to do so. Their forum - the party. Calling themselves ‘fun-raisers’ their track record bears evidence
