Finally, the Hamptons season is upon us. And there might no better way to celebrate the arrival of summer than at the renowned Georgica for supermodel Jessica White’s Angel Wings Foundation bash on Sunday, May 26th. The evening begins with a reception at 8 p.m. followed by a three-course dinner with cocktails at 9 p.m. The meal will be prepared by Georgica’s outstanding chef Seth Levine; expect dishes generously drizzled with truffle oil and topped by succulent hunks of lobster. The after-party will get going at 11 p.m., with music and dancing into the wee hours. All this revelry is in support of a great cause: Delete Blood Cancer, a non-profit that’s leading the fight to end blood cancer by empowering people to take action, give bone marrow and save lives. This weekend, the fourth annual Montauk Music Festival kicked off summer 2013 without skipping a beat. From May 16-19, indie musicians took to local venues for the volunteer-run, grassroots live music festival. Among the festival's featured musicians were folk, pop, rock, and hip hop artists. We are happy to report that our friends Matt Kliegman and Carlos Quirarte from The Smile (the quaint restaurant on Bond street that has won over the hearts of many a Nolitan), along with their chef, Melina Marden will be collaborating with executive chef Brian Loiacono over at Ruschmeyer's in Montauk. The previous summers, the restaurant at the hotel, owned and managed by King and Grove was being run by the boys from the Fat Radish. What does this mean for Ruschmeyers? Well besides delivering great eats, Matt and Carlos are responsible for running some of the hottest spots in downtown Manhattan (The Jane Hotel and The Westway), and this summer, it seems they will be taking their loads of followers out East. One can only imagine what it would be like to be the niece of a designer like Oscar de la Renta, but if the photos from this weekend's wedding of his niece Katherine Pingree found all over instagram (#andrewandkatswedding) are any indication, it's a life of glamor and chicness. We are salivating over the Gatsby-esque images from inside this grand wedding, which took place Saturday night at St. Luke's in East Hampton with a reception following at Further Lane Farms where uncle Oscar took the mic and serenaded his niece and the beautiful crowd. In 2008 Surf Lodge, a quaint restaurant with a surf theme opened on Fort Pond with hardly much of a bang. Sure they had a hip chef running the kitchen and a verified Manhattan nightlife crew running the party scene, but the hundreds of cars and frat boys would take a year or two to fully figure out what was brewing in Montauk. Since then, the movement of the hampters (hipsters from Manhattan) and the share house yuppies looking to party in the Hamptons has consistently headed East (Luckily for Lizzie Grubman, Conscious Point isn't even a memory in the minds of current trend-seekers). Keeping on trend, Montauk's nightlife scene will continue to dominate the Hamptons this summer, despite the growing battle between the townsfolk and these summer subversives who will be infiltrating their territory come Memorial Day weekend. The world lost a landmark when the inspiration behind the West Egg house of Jay Gatsby, Beacon Towers, was demolished in 1940. The palatial property that played host to extravagant parties for guests including the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Dorothy Parker, Groucho Marx and the Fitzgeralds was brought to the ground two short decades after its heyday. And this summer, we will loose yet another when the mansion fabled to have inspired Daisy Buchanan's home is torn down. Now that the Gilded Age of F. Scott Fitzgerald is back in the spotlight, we can't help noticing why Baz Luhrmann chose to shoot his rendition of "The Great Gatsby" in Australia. The Gold Coast of Long Island is no longer the glamorous dueling Eggs of Gatsby's world, as some of the famous mansions crumble to the ground. More»

This just in: hotelier Sean MacPherson (The Bowery, The Maritime, The Jane Hotels) has officially purchased a set of cottages adjacent to his existing Crow's Nest Hotel and Restaurant on Lake Montauk. Feast your eyes on "The David Pharaoh Cottages." Named after the revered Montakett Indian leader, David Pharaoh (regarded as the last living Indian king of Montauk), the name pays homage to Montauk's rich Indian history.  These adorable little homes (which don't seem to need much work as-is) will be getting the full MacPherson treatment. What does this mean for Crow's Nest guests? The chance to spend a summer holiday in one's own private beach bungalow complete with kitchenettes, a private lakefront patio, a private beach, and all of Crow's Nest's amenities. Apparently demand for the coveted two bedroom house on the existing Crow's Nest property was so strong that MacPherson quickly expanded to the adjacent cottages. A whole new group of restaurants are headed out to the Hamptons beginning in Summer 2013 just in time to meet Manhattan's version of the "snow-bird", who instead fly east for the winter. Last summer The Bell & Anchor and Muse Restaurant's openings had us talking. This year, Eater Hampton is reporting a whole new class of bites and sips to add to our summer anticipation.
