If you haven’t left yet for wherever it is you are spending Labor Day Weekend, we suggest you do so in the next hour. The LIE (Long Island Expressway) is sure to be jammed all afternoon and well into the evening as city dwellers flock out east. You could end up spending hours in a car (which, with the right people could be more fun than you think), or you could hop on a Helicopter and be at your destination (for us, Hamptons) in less time than it takes to watch an episode of Mad Men. Team GofG had a chance to experience first hand, the benefits of being rich being able to fly across the NY skies last Friday, thanks to Ventura Air and Nik Tarascio (CEO of Air East). They have been getting Manhattanites with means to their vacation spots out east for over 50 years.
The trip included Paper Magazine’s Peter Davis, Graphic Designer Ashley Simko, and GofG’s Sarah Mandato, James Brooks, and ME! Along with our amazing pilot, Stretch Ryder. I can’t tell you how beautiful it was seeing New York City from hundreds of feet above!

I am pretty sure that the mansion is part of the Sands Point Preserve - This House is called Castle Gould and was built in 1901 for Howard Gould. Later sold to Daniel Guggenheim in 1917 and renamed Hempstead House.
That is the estate of Verne Foyer, the late ambassador to the UN who hailed from Palm Beach. He was one of the wealthiest barons of the baron ages.
