More than 75 well-known artists are creating unusual works of art for the ninth annual Box Art Auction. The proceeds raised at the auction will benefit East End Hospice in its annual drive to meet the increasing demands on its services. Box Art is a challenge to the artists who have made a commitment to help support East End Hospice. Each artist is given a cigar box or wine box and let their imagination and talent take over to create an answer to the challenge of helping Hospice fulfill its important role in our East End community. Among the members of the distinguished Honorary Committee are Mercedes Ruehl, April Gornik, Edward Albee, Sheldon Harnick and Alec Baldwin. Among those who have created a box this year are April Gornik, Stan Goldberg Randall Rosenthal and Ann Chwatsky. The silent auction begins at 4:30 p.m. followed by a live auction at 6:30 p.m. Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Admission to the auction is $60.
