Melet Mercantile Montauk Opening

Melet Mercantile is ready to begin its second summer in Montauk. The opening event will present an intimate retrospective of Maripol’s original Polaroids, art, books, Maripol jewelry and clothing in her first ever East End show! During the eighties, Maripol documented the colorful personalities that inhabited the legendary New York nightclubs- Studio 54, the Mudd Club, Danceteria and Palladium. Using her SX-70 Polaroid, she captured Manhattan clubland during the post-punk era when hip-hop was in its earliest stages. Whether it’s Grace Jones, Deborah Harry or Madonna in a bright pink wig, Maripolarama provides lively insight into a time long gone.
