Description
The Retreat, the only non-profit domestic violence agency serving the East End of Long Island is pleased to announce the opening reception of their Juried Art Show on May 9, 2009 at Hampton Road Gallery, from 6-8 pm. The opening reception is a free, family friendly event. From the bottom of our hearts we thank the Jurors for their time, effort and dedication to the fight against domestic violence. • Ann Chwatsky - photographer and Faculty at New York University • Helen Harrison - curator, Director of the Pollock Krasner House • Gavin Spanierman – President and Owner of Spanierman, LTD The three jurors had their work cut out for them in picking the top 30 entries, with just shy of 250 entries to look through. The jurors’ truly enjoyed seeing all of the work that was entered into the competition. This event turned out to be great success for the Retreat with 100% of the entry fees directly supporting the agency. The top 30 entries, as selected by the above jurors, will be shown in a group show opening on May 9, 2009 at Hampton Road Gallery in Southampton. As previously mentioned, the “Best In Show” of the group show will receive a Solo Exhibition at Peter Marcelle Contemporary in Southampton at a date to be determined. The 30 artists that were selected are from all over – as far as France to as close as Sag Harbor.
