As previously announced, each week Dan will bring one of the book’s chapters to life by gathering friends and fans at the very Long Island location in which the story is set. On Saturday June 12th, meet Dan in the entryway of the Shinnecock Nation Cultural Center & Museum in Southampton for a reading of the chapter ’Lance Gumbs.’ Gumbs is a member of the Shinnecock Indian Tribal Council and a current tribal elder who the author employed in his teenage years to deliver newspapers. Years later, over lunch at Gurney’s Inn, Gumbs presented his idea for a tribal gambling casino, which sent the author into lock down mode.
