Planters On & Off the Ground III Invitational and Open Bowls

we invite you to look to the professionals as they display their creations at LHR’s Planters On & Off the Ground III invitational. Using hand-picked vessels to inspire container garden design, experts choose plants with care and position them lovingly—ever conscious of the Gestalt—the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. Containers will be judged this year by a designer of historically inspired and original garden furniture, exterior decorator, John Danzer. Founder of Munder-Skiles, John’s work can be seen in public and private gardens world wide. This event is proving so popular that winners of last year’s invitational can be seen on P. Allen Smith’s Garden Home series on cable television. Check your local listings for dates, channel, and times. This year, we will also include a competition of Open Bowls—those decorative objects special enough to stand alone in one’s garden. Be there to see John Danzer ribbon-winning urns, baskets of historical design and architectural scale planters. You’ll find them on display between Mia Westerlund Roosen’s Battenkill and Abby Jane’s Path.
