Ever looking for that perfect place after work (or more likely, the beach) where you can let your hair down and enjoy some drinks and appetizers overlooking the water? Look no further than Tide Runners in Hampton Bays. MoreĀ»

Westhampton, Firsthampton, Worsthampton...call it what you like, it doesn't have the best reputation. But the reality is, the time you'd spend in traffic trekking all the way to Montauk can be better spent inebriated in a more westerly locale. MoreĀ»

Unlike their blue-garbed Eastern brethren, it seems the Hampon Bays FD don't mind having a little fun. Apropos of nothing, the firemen are throwing a free carnival at and around their station. There will be rides, games, and food booths through August 3rd, but the parade and fireworks are tonight at 7.

While I have mixed feelings about circuses, I do love small town carnivals, with their fauxstalgic games, fried dough, and ferris wheels. Hopefully this will make up for missing the one in Southampton.

porkys nightclubA while back, when the Rover broke down, I had the opportunity to chat with my tow-trucker, a young man who hailed from Riverhead. The conversation touched on many subjects -AVs, why the Brits can't make good cars, XBox 360's, why he loves Porky's... What is Porky's? I asked, curious. "The best club ever."

Evidently Kendra Wilkinson agrees, as she chose to celebrate her birth at the Hampton Bays hotspot. And she's not the only one; a little facebook trawling, and I uncovered this. Apparently Porky's is the no.1 bar in the country, especially if you're a bachelorlette, beer pong champ, or a ROCK STAR. While I'm not much of a ponger, I do love me the occasional "after barn party." Those of you who've been, do you think Rachelle and I should check it out?

SloJacks Hampton Bays

Slo Jacks or Slo's as locals call it, is a dream come true. Its anything but your typical Hamptons food joint with long lines, obnoxious customers, and even more obnoxious prices. Located off Old Montauk Highway equidistant between East Quogue and Southampton, it offers a whole host of wonderful items including Mexican Food, mini golf, a surf shop, and a Pac-Man machine. Slo's menu is appropriately inlaid into the fiberglass of a surfboard that hangs above the front counter. FYI, The cheese quesadilla is to die for. Can you think of a better way to spend a first date than a root beer float and a round of mini golf?
