by Laura Belmont de Gunzburg · August 18, 2011

Friday night New York City’s most prominent art scene socialites gathered in East Hampton to celebrate the Guild Hall Summer Gala. The Gala celebrated artist Richard Prince with a preview of his new exhibit “Covering Pollock”, who with the use of iconic brands illustrates our obsession and fascination to brand labels, fame and lifestyle. Alec Baldwin hosted the event as Master of Ceremonies, which included a cocktail party in the garden of a historic estate followed by a dinner. Guests such as Richard Prince, Martha Stewart, Dina Merril, Pam and Edward Pantzer, Matthew and Stacey Bronfman, Robert A. Stern, Richard Steinberg, Larry Gagosian, Robert and Caryn Nederlander, along with many others, danced the night away as DJ Alexandra Richards spun.

The event also featured a live auction with auctioneer Simon de Pury, with 100% of the proceeds to support Guild Hall’s mission: “to nurture, cultivate and promote the visual and performing arts on the East End.” The event would not of been such a success without its dedicated sponsors, Van Cleef & Arpels and Gagosian Gallery.
