It seems the socialites abounded at Nello this past Saturday. The Southampton outpost of the Madison Ave original features mediterranean cuisine, Peter Beard art, and al fresco dining for the apathetic palates of the see-and-be-scenesters.
Pros: gawking material
Cons: the gawkees, $5,000 tabs, "where's waldo" edibles, posing, preening, waiting while one's rover is retrieved midst a sea of its brethren, dogs in purses

Last year was Jerome Lucani. Amazing art. Can't believe Nello changed it to Peter Beard when he had such a fresh new artist. You can see his art at www.jeromelucani.com. This guy has talent.

This place is unbelievable and not in a good way! I arrived there on Sat night w/ some friends to get the night started. I ordered a Stoli O & Sprite and another one of my friends ordered a Gin & Tonic. First of all, I had to tell the bartender how to make the drink because she didn't know what Stoli O was. When I drank about a third of it, she handed me a bill for $19.80! I asked her if there was a mistake and she told me that no, you ordered a top shelf drink and that's how much it costs. When my friend got his Gin & Tonic bill it was for $22.50! He asked why his was more and her only explanation was that Nello is a high end restaurant in the city and that we have that same aura here. My friend had asked to speak to the manager and when he came over, he said that if you go to any bar in the city you are going to pay at least $20 for a drink. My friend also asked if there was anything that could be done about the price of his one drink and the manager just turned his back and walked away! So in conclusion, not only are they just ripping people off, they can't even justify their pricing. A well drink should never cost more than a top shelf drink and we were not in the city. We were in the Hamptons, where obviously things can be pricey but Nello is just ridiculous!

Dean, pardon my French, but you're a selfish and cheap pr*ck! Nello is a fine dining establishment and we'll give it back to the bank before we start doing two-fers or early bird specials. You are paying for the ambiance and the priveledge of hanging out with some of the classiest and richest people in the Hamptons. Many of these people leave generous 10$ tips on top of their 20$ drink bills. In the future, please go to the Boardy Barn if you can't afford the drinks at Nellos. Enjoy your success.

i don't know what's dumber...the fact that you didn't know Nello is overpriced to begin with or the fact that Nello continues to be cocky and overpriced for crappy food served with an attitude?!

"Nello is a fine dining establishment" - LOL. I think I might print a t-shirt with this line on it and sell it at the Boardy Barn for $5, obviously it can also be bought at Nello's but it will likely be $95! It's the same t-shirt so. Best line I have heard this summer so far. "You are paying for the ambiance and the priveledge of hanging out with some of the classiest and richest people in the Hamptons." - Did you take any drungs before you wrote this line because one can only believe it when on drugs. Oh wait, I forgot, you must be working at / for Nello's. Happy Summer!

Excellent site, keep up the good work. I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your comment. bestfashioninfo.com"] rel="nofollow">Best Fashion Info Thanks

Vito, obviously you are affiliated with Nello which is why you are trying to defend your overpriced establishment by insulting me. I am far from selfish and cheap. If these words describe anyone, they describe the owner or manager of Nello which sounds like you Vito. I am not asking for two-fers or early bird specials. I am simply asking for fair drink prices. Obviously you could not explain why a well drink costs more than a top shelf one, so I'll just have to answer this for you. YOU ARE JUST RIPPING PEOPLE OFF FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT! If you expect people to pay $20 or more per drink and then leave a generous tip, you might as well put a sign outside that says "people who are looking to get scammed only" because you don't deserve my hard earned money.

Again, Dean, you make yourself sound like a big fenook on this site. Go to the Boardy's Barn if you want to have cheap drinks. If you want to have fine cocktails with classy celebrities and well to do executives who have summer homes in the Hamptons, instead of share houses, come to Nellos. Many famous people frequent Nello and they NEVER COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PRICES. It sounds to me like you should be summering in Shirley, or even worse, NEW JERSEY. Good luck.
