Cynthia Takes Montauk

by KATHERINE KAPNICK · May 28, 2010

Cynthia Rowley's affordable structured skirts and sundresses have been making chic summer dressing a breeze for over twenty years. Now, following the success of her East Hampton branch, this well-loved fashion queen has opened a second Hamptons outpost in Montauk.

The designer is going retro with the exterior of the 696 Montauk Highway location: the facade is distinguished by a blue neon "Shop" sign and no other branding (this awesome '50s graphic is featured on the store's sturdy cotton shopping bags). Rowley designed the interior with the laid-back, simple Montauk tradition in mind.

The store is stocked to the brim with selections from the entire Cynthia Rowley collection (clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories), Cynthia Rowley home and garden tools, the Cynthia Rowley for Roxy collection (including WETSUITS!!), and even a Meyerhoffer surfboard, spruced up by the designer herself. But this is not your average clothing store: it will also host several temporary shops this summer and is sponsoring a concert series to be shown at the Memory Hotel, the store's neighbor.
