What Was Your Inspiration For Starting The Magazine?
Cece:My inspiration for starting the magazine is the kinship between Malibu and Montauk and all
the people I know who live between Malibu & Montauk. It was the perfect companion publication to my Malibu magazine, 90265.I was looking for people to collaborate with, those who could authentically represent the Montauk lifestyle (both old and new), and thankfully, I connected with Laura through a mutual colleague. She took the reigns, building a stellar staff which includes Pat Fallon, our managing editor, who is born and bred in Montauk.Laura:Cece reached out to me last fall to head up MTK Magazine. I admit, when I first heard of the plan to start a magazine devoted to Montauk, I was pretty skeptical. But, Cece wanted to do something different. She wanted to create a publication that reflects the community. Montauk has given me some of the finest moments of my life, and by celebrating what makes it unique on the pages of MTK I hope to repay that generosity at least in part.
