Welcome To Ditch Plains SURFING ETIQUETTE

PHILOSOPHY

  • If you give respect, you will get respect
  • Courtesy is contagious - Dont' be a wavehog
  • Help and encourage those with less experience
  • When the waves are small or crowded, RELAX!!

RULES OF THE ROAD

  • Look both ways before taking off
  • DON'T DROP IN !!!
  • The first person to catch a wave has the right of way
  • When more than one surfer catches a wave at the same time, the one closest to the curl has right of way
  • Paddle around the lineup, not through it
  • If a paddler is caught inside, let the surfer ont he wave pass, and then paddle out behind him

SAFETLY FIRST

  • ALWAYS HOLD ONTO YOUR BOARD!!!
  • Study the waves and currents before paddling out
  • Be aware of and ready to react to others at all times
  • Don't swim near surfers or surf near swimmers

Respect the Beach!!
