As the hype and gossip from July 4th weekend is slowly diminishing, journalist Caroline McCarthy gives us a cross-country mix-tape for the proud patriot. Though the original list was found at Flavorwire, McCarthy provides her annotated version stating that certain "amazing songs...[were] left off." There's one jam for every state...to give you a taste:

“Mississippi,” by Bob Dylan

“Oh My Sweet Carolina,” by Ryan Adams

And all songs, frankly speaking, have just a tad more pizazz than our beloved National Anthem. United we may stand, but divided, well, we definitely still rock.  Is it too early to predict the soundtrack to July 4th 2011...because we just might have to.
